Manager Ange Postecoglou

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Yeah mate, that's my chief concern here; the state of football in Australia.

Glad we can be your country's guinea pig.

Poor appointment but it's almost done and now we can start planning for the next manag...I mean, season.

Good luck, Ange...

Seriously, go eat your shorts or something. What a sorry attitude.

I'm a Celtic fan. This is the first time I've ever joined another team's forum. I certainly didn't when Brendan Rodgers joined Leicester, and I doubt I will again.

When Ange joined Celtic, the appointment was met with widespread derision and mockery - myself included. With hindsight, the only sane voices were those of Australian and Japanese fans telling us we were very wrong. I feel like I must now do the same.

Ange Postecoglou is seriously impressive, both as a person and as a coach.

The football we've played in the last two years has been the best I can remember, by some distance. Even with the trophies Rodgers won, and our European success under Martin O'Neill, he's the most talented manager I've seen in my 30 years at Celtic Park.

It's been such a joy to watch Celtic under Ange. He plays a very modern, very intense system, using inverted full backs in a fluid 4-3-3, with a very high tempo, creating overloads wherever possible. He also likes to keep the ball in play for as long as possible by taking quick throw ins and set pieces to tire the opposition into submission. It's rock-and-roll football that, when it finally clicks, blows teams away again and again. Not dissimilar to De Verbi or Pep. It's clear why the City Group have kept tabs on him for so long.

But he's not just a throwaway hipster tactician. He has a very old school presence, in the style of Sir Alex or Jock Stein. (Indeed one of his first major games as a manager was against Man Utd's treble-winning side in 2000. He is a lot more experienced than the insular UK press make out.) He doesn't take fools lightly and doesn't pander to the whims of the modern footballer. If you're not fully behind him you're out the door.

Despite the support's reservations, he got us onboard almost straight away, as much by the way he talks about football as the way he plays it. He'd be an elite leader in any industry, not just football. He has a presence that is just special. It's hard to put into words.

Football is unpredictable. It may well not work out at Spurs. But if it does work, I'm pretty confident that he'll have you competing in the top four and beyond by the second season. I genuinely believe he's one of the top five managers in world football. I've never come remotely close to saying that about any other Celtic manager.

Enjoy next season. It's going to be an incredible journey.
Much appreciated. The last time we had sentiments like this was from a Saints fan re: Poch and that didn't work out too badly.

I really hope the Spurs media team do a longer sit down interview with Big Ange (if he does come) rather than some one minute "we're gonna make you proud" fluff like we got with Nuno. There'll be a lot of fans turning their nose up at him and I think they'd be more likely to be won over if they heard him outline how he wants the football to be played.

Seriously, go eat your shorts or something. What a sorry attitude.

Nah you're right, he's going to give likes of Pep, Klopp and Poch sleepiness nights at the prospect of facing Spurs next season.

Guy won a Treble with Celtic, hardest achievement in football that is.

Hope he proves me wrong but I suspect we'll be in the same position at the end of next season, looking for a new manager, if not before.

I echo that hope that he is given time by the board and by the fans. They’re not a manager out there that would instantly unite the fanbase unfortunately. Too many raving lunatics on the fringes for any decision to be widely accepted. Even getting Pep would have lead to “he only does it with unlimited money and he’s a bald fraud”.

So we are where we are. Looks likely it’ll be AP coming in, so let’s try to get behind the guy and trust he wants to be here and wants to be a success. And as importantly, support the players he puts on the field. This could very well work out for us.
To be fair, a sadistic part of me would be tickled by appointing Pep only to watch him fail with us.

Like completing the Infinity Gauntlet of elite coaches in our managerial graveyard.

if he can get us playing good football I’ll give him a season before I Judge , let him mould the squad for a rebuild and see what he can do , sadly I don’t think he will be given the time to see if he is even any good , might make a bet that he’s gone by Christmas

Demented fanbase at the moment. Actually want the team to fail / rivals to succeed to use as a weapon against an unpopular CEO.
Spurs fans thrilled at the thought of Chelsea winning so they can leave ‘bald man = bad’ posts? Absolutely bonkers!
I can’t stand Levy or ENIC but any Spurs fan should surely want Spurs to succeed in spite of them . I love Poch but hope he fails spectacularly at Chelsea

Let's put our doubts aside now. Poch came in with doubters, Conte didn't.... no one can predict the future.

Welcome Ange, hope he can revolutionise the way we play football and create a feel good factor in the club like he did at Celtic 🇦🇺 💚

I was excited by Poch and looking forward to it. I feel even less looking forward to this than I did Nuno and fear it will go a similar way. I just think it’s a terrible mistake. Hope I’m wrong.

The amount of people on here that already want Ange to fail and want to see Kane go is amazing
Mate this forum at times is toxic you’d actually think if you didn’t see the fighting cock heading you were viewing a rival forum who hates us……you know fine there are certain posters who just can’t wait for us to fuck up, if we win or are doing well you never see them minute we lose or a game goes pair shaped they appear without fail…..this appointment to some on here will be a godsend all their christmases will have come at once.

Ok it looks like we are going to get a dose of the Greek Aussie so can we stop all the petty misgivings negative arguments and try to invest in a few positives. I, like the rest of you have no idea if he will be any good but in a way I am pleased that we are taking a risk on someone who is fresh to the Prem. And don’t worry I will be the first to shout ‘sack’ if it all goes tits up - as I was with Conte.
Now here is special message to all you Scottish cunts coming on here to try and belittle Spurs. We are the best team in London and we have the biggest and best stadium and the biggest London based support so let’s forget any plastic cunts. Your Scottish football is a squalid little affair propped up by sectarian religious bile. As is your whole pathetic purpose in life where you won’t even talk to your next door neighbour if they have a blue front door. I have been to Glasgow and it it a beautiful city with beautiful architecture, but it is the perfect example of how religion divides humanity.
