Would counter that money is partially offset by the benefit of longevity that ENIC have. They’ve had years of heritage to build a brilliant u23 side, find a manager they trust, secure a brilliant DOF and hire the best data analysts as well as create the positive cultural environment / clear strategy throughout the club so that all staff are pulling

Unfortunately time has seen them fault to achieve any of this, and they are underperforming vs say NewC who, money aside, have only had a year to accelerate past us on all of the above. Clownshow

It’s more money to spend from finishing higher in the League.
It’s more money to spend as a result of Europa League qualification.
And it’s not as if you’re an agent and know anything about any footballer’s motivation.

Well we should obviously be ahead of Newcastle as their project has only just started. Them being rich is a moot point, their wage bill is significantly lower. Even Woolwich’s is lower at this point.

& We finished below Brighton & Villa, not Chelsea. So you can bang on about finances all you like, most of the teams ahead of us don’t have a more expensive team.

It’s like an auto immune response for you guys to blame richer clubs. How about we look at the actual situation and then say if we’re facing a slow, inevitable side down the table due to wealthier owners coming in, ENIC fuck off and leave the club to people prepared to keep us competitive?

Yeah you can see it coming a mile off. The insidious, creeping readjusting of expectations. Previously it was 'be happy with top 4, this is our limit' but now Levy is succeeding in convincing some of us that being top 6 and a bit of fun football is the new limit.

Give it another 5-10 years? Top half will be the new bar of success. And the same old folks will swallow it and say "at least we're doing it the right way, at least it isn't petro murder ball.."

We made more money out of Beyoncé than europa league 🤣
To be honest money is the most important thing for footballers. If Maddison gets offered £20k more per week to come to us than what Newcastle offer then he’ll come to us. I always have a laugh at players that say that champions league is everything. Most of them won’t win it,get by the group stages or guaranteed to play !

Invested more, and better. Overtook us.

Are now in the position we were not so long ago and will be more aggressive than we ever will be in terms of chasing top shelf talent.

ENICs model isn’t the only way to do this if you don’t have oil money.

That’s the logical fallacy I hate. Just accepting that other clubs are bigger or cook the books to enable more aggressive transfer/wage policies.

Did their model get us there or thereabouts? Yes several times. Do they really have the hunger or ambition to achieve more than that?

Time will tell.
