This Vicario fella any good?

Or is it budget shopping?

Supposedly, this is a comparison chart to Raya for ref

Has a whiff of Paratici about it.
It does.

Our chief scout is an Italian too? Dolce and Gabbana or sth like that,

Italian leagues good to scout though… they had a team in every European final this year.

Biggest problem with this is either;

1. Levy’s negotiation style means people get invested into a player we are interested in and as soon as the deal can’t happen, the fun is taken out of the next signing.

2. We are shit at keeping our business to ourselves

Mid/lower PL clubs really take the piss when it comes to selling to the big 6. We can't compete with the others on those terms, clever deals like Jan, Toby, Dele etc. is what got us into the top 6 in the first place. We have to keep trying to do that to overcome the financial gap.

Thing is clubs like Ajax are keen to as well.....

Martinez > Man U = 60m
Anthony > Man U = 90m
Sanchez > Spurs = 40m
De Ligt > Juve = 68m
De Jong > Barca = 70m

Must be one of very few not bothered about Raya. He's alright, just strikes me as a bog standard prem keeper. 27 so not loads of time for any improvement and quite short. 11 years ago we were signing 25 year old Hugo Lloris who'd already won about 30 French caps.
I had to sell myself in Raya.
His outstanding trait is long balls and Ange doesn’t want that from his keeper.

Can get behind any of the 3 linked really. Vicario actually looks like a coup to me

Prime age for a Keeper though
Yeah it's not that he's old. But this is a guy who scrapped his way up from the bench in Serie B, this has never been anyone's idea of a top prospect. But he definitely won plaudits and attention within Italy once he got his chance on loan with tiny Empoli, he's been called up to the national team.

His profile reminds me a bit of Matt Turner who emerged at a similar age.

But Woolwich did not hand the #1 shirt to Matt Turner, it was a speculative punt.

Still think we’ll end up with Raya…

POK was bang on the money on this in terms of interest calling it before everyone....

Brentford maybe be the mutz nutz in identifying best young / unearthed gems and developing them, but need to learn the art of negotiation...

1) Player they have wants to go and refused to extend last season, hence got dropped
2) ONLY 12 MONTHS
2) They Buy his replacement before shifting or having a concrete offer they would accept, of the Player that refused to sign and wants to go, already having another Main GK already on top

.... your bargaining power hand is basically fook all (unless you banking on, not so covert arab saudi dirty money from chavs washing enterprise, which doesnt seem to be the case)

Yeah, if you're a club like Spurs, your options are very limited. We can't afford to get rinsed like United do. And we don't seem to be able mysteriously ship half our duds to China/Atletico/Saudi.

Italians seem to rate him on here

What do they know? Our resident goalkeeper experts Deuterz Deuterz Doom Funk Doom Funk and kingdawson kingdawson have determined that he's a shit GK because he's cheaper than what would have been the 4th highest transfer fee ever paid for a GK. And for one that isn't even world class, has a year left on his contract, and whose team already signed his replacement.

EDIT: forgot tommyboyspurs tommyboyspurs

No chance. Top players arent leaving the prestige of top European leagues to go and play in the desert. It just wont happen.
They'll live on the coast. The Gulf is beautiful, and they'd have the players living in the kind of luxury they'd only be able to dream of over here.

Dubai built 2 bloody island groups off their coast FFS. The Saudis could do that 5 times over.

Then buy enough top players for ridiculous money and the elite leagues suddenly aren't quite as elite as was thought.

As Richard Arlison said, they've already blitzed the PGA in a relative heartbeat, you think that UEFA wouldn't be forced into some drastic action now they're turning their eye, and unlimited resources, to Football?
