Agree. Waiting it out and letting them drop the price is the best option.

The only bad thing is , as they start lowering their price, more clubs will be interested at a lower price and that means the team that finished 8th isnt the most enticing prospect compared to some others. Newcastle would be in pole position to snap him up.
If Maddison wants to come to us only, then not much Leicester can do but sell him to us.

I’m reading that Newcastle will be out of the mix after they drop 70m for Tonali (as much as a result of FFP as anything else).
It’s possible that other clubs will come into the mix but, historically, it’s the clubs that declare early that pursue. Of course, teams have been known to hijack.
IMO, we can afford to wait this one out and be prepared to look at other targets.
Wait what? Newcastle affected by FFP? How can that be? Their owners have trillions and can spend a billion in the summer window alone.

Airfixx Airfixx and the Levy Loving lynch mob out in full force tonight

Deuterz Deuterz already a fallen hero

We don't this year. Kane, Skipp, Spence, Davies and 17 non-HG are more than enough players for 38 PL and a smattering of cup games. Assuming Winks, Dier, Sess, Tanganga, Rodon are off. We can add more HG as needs dictate, but right now we would go with the best quality players we can find.
Forster as well doesn't he?

I was never that excited about Raya, especially at 40mil. Always thought there was a better deal out there for us. If Gugli flops, well that's a 20mil I can live with wasting.

Same thinking re Maddison. There's just something about him, despite his mad stats, that makes me think 'stay away'.

If we're sticking with Serie A, there's that Domenico Berardi from Sassuolo who's just a beautiful player, but it looks like he's going to Lazio.

Ademola Lookman (HG) was superb for Atalanta last year...but would be very expensive. And likely wants to play in Europe.

I'd also like us to keep an eye on that kid striker from Torino, Pellegri. Big and strong, still very raw but bags of potential.

Yup, really not sure I have an objective reason to not get too excited about Maddison just not.

Eze would get me more excited.

Would Devine help beef up HG quota too?

We are buying Vicario because Reya was too dear for Levy.
Surely you realise we can't just go out and spend big on all our targets. The squad needs upgrading in loads of areas of the pitch and we don't have unlimited funds...we need to think if that money can be better spent elsewhere.

If the choice was Raya and Kilman for 70m or Vicario and Tapsoba for the same price, which would you prefer?

I'd forget about HG to be honest.

Just buy the players we think are the best and use youngsters to cover the HG gaps.

Don't feel it matters this year with less games and no Europe and hopefully we can give some youth a bit of experience where the chance arises.

He's a talented keeper, no doubt. Very spectacular, as highlights show. Like I said in another post, he's my fave behind Maignan, probably on par with Onana who's just crazy good with his feet. I prefer him to Meret from Napoli or the Roma keeper whose name I forgot (Portuguese bloke, I think).

Gugli's got to improve in a few areas. As a few have rightly pointed out, he has a tendency to push the ball back into dangerous areas...he actually conceded a few rebounds last season. But in the end he still conceded fewer goals than Empoli's xGA. His kicking can be worked on too...having better players (and coaching staff) around him will help. See how he handles claiming crosses when challenged by physically tough, nasty bastards in the PL.

Am I excited we got him? Yeah, sure. He'll defo be fun to watch and I think fans will love his big personality, he seems a character.

Never actually considered him a potential signing for Spurs cause I thought he'd do what most Italian players do ie stay in Serie A. Thought it was pretty much a done deal he'd end up at AC, Inter, Juve...

Forget Raya, getting this kid for 20mil is a very good piece of business. On paper at least. Let's just hope he won't get a shitty injury or lose his head living in London on big wages etc.
Thank you.

As far as Tapsoba is concerned, I think Leverkusen will say it's 55mil and not a penny less...and that's before we even get to bonuses. They know what they've got and that if he had another big season for them, he'd either stay to play CL football or go to Bayern/City/Real/PSG for 80+.

I just don't see us spend that kind of money, not when we've got such a bloated squad. If we somehow managed to get a few mil for Sanchez, Dier, GLC & co, then yeah perhaps. But I'd be stunned if we invested big on him or another CB before we shift some deadwood.

More likely we'll get one or 2 backup type dudes first, then have a pop at Tap later on if the stars align.

Spoken to the one guy I know who religiously watches Serie A. Massive Inter fan. Says of Vicario: ‘he’s a steal’ at what we paid and that if he had gone to one of the bigger Italian clubs this year - and several were linked - then he would have cost Maignan money to prise away next year.
