22-year-old left-footed centre-back

Both Tapsoba and Mickey in one summer is unlikely to me but that would be a MASSIVE upgrade going forward, that’s a group that can stay together for a whole cycle.

City - a group bang in their prime : stones, Dias, Akanji/ Ake (Laporte on the outs)

Woolwich wanderers- a group that will be great barring injury for at least 3-4 years: Saliba (injuries?), Gabriel, White, Kiwior, Tomiyasu (sicknote, likely getting replaced by Timbor)

LFC- a group exiting their prime just a bit too long in the tooth: Konate, Virgil(injury), Gomez(injury) Matip (ageing)

Romero, Tapsoba & Van de Ven is an awesome foundation to build upon. Can’t have good attacking football without building from the back in terms of style and acquiring the right personnel.

Seems too good to be true getting both VDV and Tapsoba in because he could definitely do a job at LB as well as cover for CB for rotation.
By the way we'd have to find something else to call him - hopefully we all agree there's only one VDV connected with this club, oh to have player like him right now... So we'd have to call this new chap something else. :)

EDIT: For those old enough to remember, I suggest we'd call him Mickey and use the old Toni Basil song whenver he did anything particularly good. ;)

Thing to consider with Van de Ven and Tapsoba:

Tapsoba, 24 years old with a 4 year contract = 28/29
Van de Ven 22 years old with a 4 year contract = 26/27

If we are back on the model of selling players, we would be getting more of Tapsoba's peak years, Van de Ven would be hitting his peak.

Why is everyone getting greedy .......we won't get both Tapsoba and VdV, that's potentially 90- 100 mill worth of centre back

It will be more likely one of those two as the marquee CB signing and then another cheapie like that Fulham guy Tosin.

Need a big ball playing CB who can cover a ton of ground:
- Tapsoba/Kim Min Jae/Colwill

Need a left footed LB/LCB hybrid with technical ability:
- Lukeba/Van de Ven/Hancko

One from each of these groups are needed no matter who the manager is.
Ange you are rocking my world! Wow.

Spurs really need to get both. No matter how expensive. Regardless, finally a bit of proper scouting!

I don’t see it as “selling” . It’s recognising when a player is about to exit his peak and taking advantage of his established reputation to get a great fee that you can reinvest at a higher level. Otherwise you are left writing off a lot of waste that you could have got something for. Also you need to freshen up the group from time-to-time. Familiarity breeds contempt.

Are Madrid, City and Chelsea also selling clubs? Because they have also raked in lots from letting players go over the past decade.

We haven’t “sold” anyone we didn’t want to since Bale. Poch was happy to let Walker go for example.

Thinking that you are Cosplaying a big club by not selling normally results in just having waste and deadwood cluttering your squad.
