Sanchez came to Tottenham earlier than NdombeleWe spent stupid money on Ndombele, a player who had been criticised by pretty much every coach he has ever had for having an attitude problem and being lazy. Then we spent stupid money on Sanchez, a player who at that point had only played one season in Europe (at Ajax).
They were examples of poor recruitment not a reflection on what £60m can get you.
VDV can play left back, Tapsoba both sides Romero is a walking injury and/or red card. Are we really saying now we only need 2 good centre backs? Given a fair run in the cups it could be around 45 to 48 games, plenty for all 3, especially given the age and experience of them. With a back 4 and no Europe how do you get game time for all 3?

Was that Alasdair Gold at Wimbledon?
Lazy bugger! He should be up a tree outside the lodge.
Oh FFS!!!With a back 4 and no Europe how do you get game time for all 3?
Well, we gave game time to a striker that failed miserably at Leicester, in the Championship, and for whom a lot of our fans were proclaiming would never get higher than League 1.So spurs are of a level where we should consider giving time to a right back who isn't good enough to start for Rennes?
As long as we are clear on where spurs aim to be
If you mean Vdv and Tapsoba, then that comment is just too naive.
It's funny, but what if you actually ran a football club like this? Beginning of the summer, publish a gofundme with different transfer targets and the cost. Supporters can "vote" for who they want to sign by funding their transfer directly.
£27 million they wanted and we could get him for £20 million now or less plus Perisic. I’m only going on every time I’ve seen him he’s been good or excellent.Zaniolo is wank mate lol.
I am so glad we didn’t spunk 50m or whatever it was Roma wanted on him like that prat Conte was pushing for.
Just downplaying that made up tweet.

Of course all players should fight for their places, but no player at that sort of level is going to leave his current club to join us* if he won't at least start off as first choice, i.e. "it's yours to lose". (And let's not get into this nonsense of 'there is no first choice', of course there is, especially in defence where you don't want to change it every game). Of course there will be injuries, suspensions etc, but I can't see Tapsoba signing unless he believes he is going to be starting, and the same may or may not be true of VdV. If VdV understands he will not start above Tapsoba or Romero until they somehow 'let him in' (poor performance, injury, suspension etc) and is happy with that then great, but if that's not the case then I can't see us signing both, and the attitude of 'they need to win their place' is just too naive - that only works if they are already here.
Of course the ideal scenario is that VdV is happy to be 'behind' Tapsoba and Romero and wants to prove he's actually better than them, so let's hope that's the case, but it would be naive of us to assume that it definitely is the case, and if it isn't then I don't see us signing both.
* I accept they might leave their current club to join someone like City or RM to begin as non-first-choice, but joining us to do that seems much less likely. I do hope that I'm wrong.
I don’t think it’s a dumb excuse at all, the comment he made is plain old common sense.
Zaniolo is super fast, great dribbler, plays wide right or through the middle. Only trouble being is do we need more home grown players but someone like Eze for example who is similar (imho) would cost a hell of a lot more.£27 million they wanted and we could get him for £20 million now or less plus Perisic. I’m only going on every time I’ve seen him he’s been good or excellent.
Could be arrested for that.
