They just dropped 200m in one window.

I literally acknowledged that it was 2 weeks old..... Perhaps have a count up again at the end of the window and see how the net pans out.........

I get where you are coming from with price doesn’t determine quality of player or success of transfer. At least not always.

But ask yourself this:

If they finish above us (AGAIN) can we have any complaints when their spending has been that much more ambitious this summer?

I just posted facts; not opinon.

The way words like "ambition" get banded on here (often with a willful ignorance to context or basic fact) makes me cringe..... I'll hold myself to account for my own opinions and leave it at that.

No surprise, he already had two loans away from the club and has said himself how hard he’s found it to adapt.

A good talent but not cut out for English football. Just doesn’t have the power in his body. I’m

I'll have to dig when I have more time for the 10 year record, but as an appetizer here's the 5 year net spend. We've only been outspent by Woolwich (+€20.M, 1xFA Cup) and United (+€116M, 1xLeague Cup).

I know everyone wants to blame our lack of recent success on ENIC being tight gits that won't spend. But it just doesn't jive with reality guys. It just isn't the spending. It's the shit spending and shit management and shit lack of meaningful direction as a club. All of that is, also, ENIC/Levy's fault...stop being lazy and falling back on the net spend fallacy.
I would love it if it was just a lack of spending. It’s poor recruitment, managerial picks, planning , ambition, direction, intent & vision.

Not everything "journalists" and "ITK's" spit out are true you know 😉

If all of us fans could have the mindset that 95%(which is probably low) of what they are spitting out are just made up BS to get clicks, we would probably be in a healthier mental state!

You just need to be clever with which journalists/sources you listen to.
Once you decipher the journalists with genuine insider knowledge from the hacks, it becomes easier to piece together what is likely a close version to the truth…

TRFs correct as to a couple of weeks ago (according to TFM):

Arse (m/euros):

23/24 in 0 out 4.9 <<< so far
22/23 in 192.36 out 23.8
21/22 in 167.40 out 31.4
20/12 in 86 out 19.1
19/20 in 160.8 out 53.6

Total in 606.56 out 132.8

= €473.76m (net spend)

Spurs (m/euros):

23/24 in 75 out 0 <<< so far
22/23 in 177.9 out 38.75
21/22 in 95.9 out 34.62
20/12 in 110.50 out 13.3
19/20 in 150.5 out 64.5

Total in 609.8 out 151.17

= €458.63m (net spend)

———————————————————————————————————————————————

Wages:

22/23 - Arse 103.5m / THFC 110.4m
21/22 - Arse 93.9m / THFC 89.7m
20/21 - Arse 128.7m / THFC 129.1m
19/20 - Arse 115.4m / THFC 93.1m

Arse = Total 441.5m
THFC = Total 422.3m

Figures as per:

👍
Last season, according to those figures.

Woolwich net spend rounded
£170m

Spurs net spend rounded.
£140m

Difference
@ £30m

Who was it again who kept saying that Woolwich vastly outspent us last season ?

Don't tell me that they were talking bollocks.
Or making shit up.

Not on here surely ?

Ok, let’s use a different word to ambitious (you chose) and we can revisit at the end of the window, then ask the same question???

I’m not even levy out but I completely agree.

Lenglet shouldn’t be pursued. And Dier should only stay if he refuses to leave.

He absolutely should not play

I want 2 of VDV, Tosin and Tapsoba.
Agreed. But we end up being so short by the end of the window that we would love Lenglet. Ideally we get better but with our owners & the thought of dier & Sanchez you end up being grateful for Lenglet for 8m on deadline day.
But really we should be saying he is ok but not good enough & we are going to get better. Same with dier. Yes let him go unless he refuses to go.
I don’t mind opportunist signings like Lenglet if we also get 2 starting quality CBs. But odds are we get 1 & Lenglet.
I’ve not seen any of those 3 play so I can’t say who would be good but if the boss wants them! I read VDV can cover at LB & is dutch so super Jan vibes! A quick clip search & The Fulham one looks athletic & is already used to the premier league so that’s always a good sign. Tapsoba looks strong & a beast at the back. I like players from the German league too.

It's multiple factors, including poor decision making by ENIC.
But what not enough people will say is it's the wage bracket of our signings that is almost certainly what is holding us back, if not actually sending us backwards. And I strongly believe this is because a fee isn't as much of a liability as wages are. You can theoretically sell a player and write off their remaining wages.
