But you still read them anyway. 🤷‍♂️
If you waste any more of your time reading this, can you tell me if we put in a bid for any of these players?

I imagine we made enquiries of all those listed before finding no 'big name' CB's on Conte's list wanted to move that summer.

The one we didn't go for was Kim Min-jae, despite us trying before in previous transfer windows as far back as when he was playing in China, so can only assume he didn't fit Conte's requirements, no other logical reason. He moved to Turkey for a song, and this window moving for £££'s

The only CB fitting some/most of Conte's wishes was Lenglet, hence the loan. A compromise for both Conte and Levy born out of necessity. Not a great defender and his much vaunted passing/crossing/long balls from back were seen much less that I had expected ......... but note the amount
of playing time Conte gave him.

Need to bring in these CB's asap to give Postecoglou a better chance for a good start. Makes no sense to let it continue to waddle on. They are our priority.

If we want to bring in others later in the window that's fine as we have enough in midfield and attack to cope but these CB's need to be on the move now and definitely be set for pre season tour

Levy has increased ticket prices for members. More expensive than Woolwich tickets, but they’ve spent 3x the amount we have in this window (and yes, I know they overpaid).

Really a joke how we’re only going to go for one of Tapsoba/VDV and then try and settle for a cheap option.

It’s not that they are all huge Levy fans. It could be that they don’t like many of the foul comments made about the man and consider those who make those comments to be childish, pathetic cowards who just think they are acting the ‘big, tough guy’ .

Yup.

the thing about echo chambers is that people rarely realise they are in them and find it very, very difficult to hear any other point of view that may shatter their strongly held, often provably incorrect belief system.

Straight from the horse's mouth:

"Spence is an investment of the club. The club wanted to do it."

“I said ‘OK, this player is young but he showed he can become a good, important player for us’. The club decided to buy him.”

Rightly or wrongly, Spence was clearly one for the future as far as Conte (and maybe the club) was concerned and not in his plans. He was a club investment, like Jack Clarke.

Up to Ange as to whether or not he's good enough for our squad. If not, loan him out and hope he has a good season then sell him for a profit if he does.

...Not "I said I didn't want him", but "I said OK"

It's weird that people are trying to remove Conte from the process even more than he has.

"Club signing" is a meme that has gained WAY too much gravitas.

People whinge about needing a DOF and were in uproar when they felt we weren't going to get one........ DOFs have final say..... Suck it up.

Mo Salah was a "club signing"... Klopp said no, but they bought him anyway.

Imo we didn't try very hard for any of those players, we didn't put a bid in for Milan skriniar to try and test Inter's resolve.

Kim Min-Jae, we had a chance to get him in 2020 but didn't want to pay his 14m release clause. If we wouldn't pay 14m there is no reason to think that we would pay his new 43m release clause.

As for Lenglet, he was I suspect some way down Conte's list but better than nothing, still very strongly linked with a permanent move.
