Bastoni would have come if we’d paid the 70m.

It was on the cards right until we wouldn’t pay.

Same pattern playing out with Tapsoba. Within a week there will be a realistic and plausible reason why we could never have got him.

There always is.
You know that … you honestly know that for 70 he’d have rocked up at whl

Just ping me that memo cause I missed it

My reading between the lines … because being gracious enough to admit that’s the best I’ve got, unlike you im not privy to the actualities of these transfers
So reading between the lines … I’d heard we’d offered 65 Inter still didn’t seemed too moved by it but I think if the kid had agitated for the move .. might have been a goer

The kid looked like he a face like a smacked arse at the mere thought of leaving Italy and his precious Inter. I think it’s fair to say this was fairly strenuously communicated.

So I think we bid 65 Good sum btw. We had conte and pat all over him by all accounts …. And he still didn’t want to come !!!

But if you’re itk to 5m making everything better then please let this plebiscite in for once

Or. I’ll take it as yet more unsubstantiated sentiment and argue convincingly there isn’t ‘always is’

No because what he does at Wolfsburg bares no relevance to what he would do here in a new team, new league, under a new coach in a new system.

We should be looking at players within a certain profile with certain characteristics that would provide what we need and be has plenty of them.
What the fuck is he doing here then.

You cannot possibly blame that on the 'system'. He looks like an absolute clown in this. This is a trend of his. He stands off the ball and lets dribblers into space, that is his style, his MO.

Seriously. How can you watch something like this and think 'oh, no big deal, he has a good profile on paper'. Spending 30m on this and expecting THIS to transform our defense?
Are these just horror examples?

Or you watched him regularly and he’s prone to this?

Either way, he’s clearly a project in every sense of the word.
Yes he is prone to this. Talk to dutch football people and they consistently say that he sucks at making quick decisive actions. He stands off everything and uses his pace to recover. You know the only players who I've ever seen do that successfully? Peak Kyle Walker (who I shouldn't even need to explain why he's a 1 of 1 anomaly) and Virgil Van Dijk. VdV actually has a similar 'style' to VVD but you know why that's a bad thing? Because for Van Dijk's style to work he had to be the best-timed and most explosive/decisive tackler in Europe. He had to be absolutely perfect on timing. Add to that that he's about 3 times as agile as Van de Ven and legitimately the best aerial defender of the past decade, which is a glaring weakness of Van de Ven's, and I think you'll see where my concern stems from.

You want him to tell Inter ultras that he’s disappointed he couldn’t get his move to triple his salary ?

Ask yourself this, why would there be talks if he was never interested?

Or could it be that the talks didn’t satisfy what was needed for the move to happen?
Ahaha now you're at the point when you're making up conspiracies to explain the literal transfer target saying it was his choice to stay. You're in too deep man.

Ok.

Fair enough.

I think he’d have come if we had stumped up the cash. I don’t know it would have happened. I’m nobody.

People seem to state with full confidence that it’s a fact that it was never on bc he wanted to stay. They are also nobody’s but they know

It should already have been done, but I chose to believe that we will have one CB before next week is out and one more before the window closes. One of them VdV, the other one. Who knows.

VDV is quick though, which means he can recover to defend when opponents play that ball over the top that is killing us at the moment.
With the space we are leaving behind the defence we are going to get murdered by Premier teams.
The game has changed now. Being dominant in the air for a centre back isn’t a massive thing now as teams want to pass you to death or run in behind you. Gone are the days when most teams launched it it to a big centre forward to flick on for a smaller pacier one!!That’s why VDV is a great option for us because of his pace. His recovery is incredible and he’s very good in the ball.

Fuck me mate come on

Because when there’s 65m people are always gonna talk.

Inter we’ve got 65 m. For bastoni. Sure we’ll sit down and talk

Talks doesn’t mean a desired outcome come

You also had his ex manager in these talks

What you can’t let go about the player didn’t want to move is peculiar

Strike it from your agenda

He said ‘ I don’t want to leave Inter’

It's getting so bad ... It's like they're becoming trf cheerleaders (rather than journalists).... Just wishing things along as the saga is all gravy to them.

Had some German guy on TS talking about the Kane saga for what felt like 15mins yday..... but it was all just hollow musing triggered by BM being keen, pro-BL & BM waffle about how good for the league it would be and why they should make sure they they get him as cheap as possible.

Nothing of insight or substance..... Yet cunts get paid for that shit!
The fact anyone gets paid to do TS is sad it is trash radio with the footballing geniuses of Jamie O'Hara, Darren Bent, Darren Ambrose and Gabby Agbonlahor. Also for some reason the have Simon Jordan a man who almost caused Palace to be dissolved and notorious liar on it.

The fact is the most the Transfer Window is to fill columns and websites. I like Alasdair Gold but I notice that he has a quota and he will write about anything and its dog to fill it. Same with Eccleshare and anyone who has to spend too much of their time reporting about Spurs.

This is just a joke. He may be tall but he SUCKS at tracking the ball in the air. That is comedy defending. Doesn't turn his body, doesn't track or judge the ball, just jumps lamely and falls off balance. Jesus christ. I cannot believe people think this guy is going to fix our defense.

Horrific aerial defending yet again.
