He has 2 years left on his deal and refused to extend. This window is the most they will get for him.

We have a great relationship with his agent, if he only wants us, I don't see why we'd need to pay over 50m.

I understand what your point is, but for that kind of money right now Cb is more important , plus i cant see any other top PL needing him so badly they will pay that huge fee. So we can take a risk as he is not signing with palace anyway and with next yr only one yr left, its a bit of a juggling act and hedging bets.

As I say, really like him, but he’s not really what we need at the moment. You have to assume that Maddison is going to occupy that role. I know Eze is a bit more versatile, but we do have that position covered (8ish mf type)What we really need is a CB, out and out 6, a RW and, obviously, a 9.

Fuck it, buy him anyway.
 
If Levy somehow managed to sign Vlahovic before the end of the season I would bust for weeks on end.

We def need a CB but unless they are going hard for Tapsoba. which it looks like they won't, the next names o the list look like 3rd CBs that can fill in for VDV and/or Romero. Those guys aren't going to cost 50m.

If we were a serious club like those above us in the Top 6, we would be buying Tapsoba (or our top CB target before anyone picks at the details to attempt to discredit the point) AND Eze, without having just sold our best player, let alone after selling him.
 
We should go in for Raya right now and offer 30m outright, none of this loan stuff like the goons. Vicario would make a good no.2. Not sure he is ready for the main man role yet.
