Management Ange Postecoglou

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Not impressed by Postos captains presentation speech. Seemed downcast and unenthusiastic. No player input. That's not how I used to get participation and motivation. Ange said its got to come from you guys. No , Ange has to inspire them, buy them into the project and that was not inspirational.
Sonny looked and sounded awkward. Poor choice of captain.
What did you want him to do?

Show some enthusiasm for a start. Not drone on in a monotone voice.
I would actually have invited applicants for interviews for the role of captain to see who came across best. It's telling that Maddison got a vice captain role before even playing a competitive game for us. Romero as a vice captain I don't agree with either.

Clown take. He’s inspiring the players by giving them ownership and empowering them to take responsibility. Which is essential in any good team. They have to motivate and police themselves just as much as the manager. You’ve watched one too many sport movies. Teams and culture aren’t created by rousing speeches.

Have a day off, stop looking into things that aren't there.

I have not watched hardly any sport movies. But I used to manage people in large groups in real life.

What do you want him to say to that question you melon
Some people are so married to the negativity they will have a harder time dealing with the wins

He hasn't come from Spain or France or Germany he's managed in Japan, Australia and Scotland.

I want to see the results first before hailing him as the new Messiah, what's so fucking wrong with that?!

He wasn't my first choice or second or even third (remember when everyone was getting excited about Slot? anyone?) BUT he's our manager now so of course I want him to do well.
I think Postecoglou is a smart guy and a harder worker and should do alright. I just get tired of all the "Big Ange" talk. He may be a genius on the cutting edge of the next big thing or maybe he'll have some early success and then the league will adjust to him. Better still, maybe he'll come in and learn what he doesn't know and adjust on the way to building something that will last. But right now all the hype over a coach who has zero Premier League experience seems over the top. My big worry is I suspect he believes his own press clippings.

Mate, is there any chance that you could run Ange through a few leadership workshops? Maybe some upbeat and inspirational roleplays to really bring him up to speed?

I'm sure a guy who has been successful in just about every role he's undertaken and has worked his way up to leading one of the richest clubs in the world would have a lot to gain from your infinite wisdom.

Maybe his lack lustre performance was intentional then ?

He's more or less always like that. He's like it in interviews as well. You may see it as downcast and unenthusiastic, but I see it as calm and level-headed. That's his personality; he doesn't get too high after a win or low after a defeat. It's always about the bigger picture and the longer-term, i.e. building something and constant improvement.

At any rate, if you've watched any of his previous teams, you'd know that players are willing to run through walls for him. Would he so consistently achieve that level of buy-in if he was boring the players to tears or they sensed that he was downcast and unenthusiastic? There's more than one way to skin a cat.

BUT CAN HE DO IT AT THIS LEVEL

oh wait.. players are falling over themselves to say how excited they are by the manager’s vision

Skipp has improved under Ange. He humbly listens and learn.

Ange wants a ball winning midfielder that make runs into thr box. Skipp just adapt. He will score lotsa goals.

Such a likeable character.

I don’t think he does.

Seems a humble geezer to me

I fucking love Big Ange

He didn’t even consider Dier and Hojbjerg for vice captaincy

I believe he will end up becoming our best and most favourite manager in recent history.

For the first time in 4 years I can wholeheartedly say, I have moved on from Mauricio Pochettino

Good point. This is the first time in 4 years that it feels like we have appointed a manager that could have the same effect as Poch.

Just hoping we give big Ange the time. Poch's first season wasn't brilliant but it set the foundations for what was to come.
