Son trying too much and isn't effective at all. Maddison can play that role better as a winger

Whenever we get into space, someone has to slow it down. Skipp on my opinion needs to move to create space. Emerson should stay on the wing alongside udogie to create the width.

We look terribly shaky whenever Brentford hits us on the break. Bissouma hasn't been anything we saw from barca game, for the good he did, he gives the ball too easily away.

If ange brave, he will take off son and skipp and introduce celso and soloman.
Biss was our best player. Didn’t really see him give the ball away that much. We defo need to improve the attack.

This wasn’t bad. We’re not going to see full Ange football until October I think. It’s a start but not everyone has it down yet.

I do think speed like Solomon would be helpful on the front 3.

Decent start overall I would say, especially considering the chaos of midweek.
Ange has clearly put a lot of work into the way we’re set up and our counter pressing is etc.

Some key points:
Positives:
- Bissouma was outstanding. If he can keep this form for the season he Will be an absolutely massive player for us.
- Udogie looks a serious player.
- VDV is green but you can see there’s serious potential there. Real shades of Jan in him at times, just less polished…
- Maddison was really good.

Negatives:
- I’d be very nervous of Vicario. Some really really shaky moments. He’s almost a like for like replacement for Lloris, and that is not a good thing.
- Having Sanchez as our first choice back up CB still is a disgrace.
- Emerson is not good enough to play that inverted CM role. Great strike for the goals though.
- Richarlison is not good enough to be our first choice striker. No ifs, buts or maybes. We need a new striker in addition to Orban if we get him.

Think we've been okay, be more comfortable if ref wasn't giving the home side as MASSIVE advantage.

Few observations.
Sanchez has caused a couple problems, one with positioning and another wen Brentford nearly scored at the end with his bad pass leavin massive space in behind he vacated

Son and kulu always too wide for my taste, both not getting involved. Richarlison not involved at all

Skipp I think in an 8 roll we could use another creative there
Yes skipp although played well v barca he really isn’t an 8. His often in no man’s land and watch him in the middle of the pitch when Brentford have the ball. His too slow to get back. His best position is in front of the defence.

Whatever the positives, the key is improvement and consistency.

Absolutely essential and where we have fallen short for so long.

Good start. Very pleased but I want so much more but in time.

Levy, take your cheque book out for a wee spend please.

Not a terrible result. We’re still in preseason mode and yet to click with Angeball. Many new faces and we were away from home against the worst matchup against our attacking style. We’ll get there.
