Player Cristian Romero

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

At last a coach who has the cojoines to take a big player off to protect him from concussion complications.

In all sports, incl rugby & NFL, you see coaches routinely failing to protect players.

-------------------------------

Ange on substituting Cristian Romeo: "I thought it was quite evident, he hurt his head. We're in an era where we know about these things so I'm not a doctor and anytime that happens I think it's really important that we protect the players.

"They don't know themselves what's going on and I had medical advice. The disappointing thing for me was that we filled in the wrong from for a concussion substitute so in this day and age when we are talking about player care, a piece of paper is not important. No hesitation in taking him off, obviously the player wants to continue but he's not the one who makes that decision."

There was understandable worry from everyone during the proceedings but Romero has since come out on Instagram with a message about the game. "We tried until the end to win the game but we couldn't," he wrote. "We will continue working to improve. all together always. I’m fine, just one blow [thumbs up emoji]"

will he be available for next weeks game ?
is the protocol 7 days before playing again ?
Just been reading the guidelines and he can play on the 6th day, all being well, so he'd be eligible.

However, as Spurs accidentally (?) filled out the wrong subbing card, he wasn't 'concussion subbed' anyway - so what I just described is academic.
