Long term, we either invest like our competition or the club is going absolutely nowhere, including in revenue growth terms for ENIC.Nothing I’ve said is defending Levy. This is all his fault. And imo, panic buying a mug player for £50-60m on deadline day would be stupid as fuck. But sadly that seems to be the only option. That or we buy Orban the kid, who is barely tall enough to ride roller coasters and will never be able to win a single aerial ball or hold up play on the counter.
It’s a shite state of affairs.
But in the immediate term, where we're at in the cycle of building a squad, there aren't deals that can be had in the next week that magically make Angeball the finished product, or a sure thing. We're miles off competing with the sharp end of the table, as much as we'll want to pretend otherwise in the afterglow of a nice victory.
We should expect better. But time and patience are going to be key ingredients of getting there, the major investment moment of this cycle hasn't really arrived yet.
Which is not to say we're not a player or two short.
