I maintain that Richarlison was a good transfer and a good bit of squad building (someone who can play with and without Kane, a proven PL goalscorer, a great physical presence) especially as Conte seemed to absolutely love him, the issue is just that he hasn’t played well.
I defended Conte a lot but in hindsight he was a bit of a twat.

He himself wanted Richarlsion and Bissouma then came out with a statement saying we can't win if we are buying players from clubs that don't win.

If Ndombele is just content to sit on his arse and pick up a salary I don't really see there being an issue paying off his contract. We'll inevitably be paying it and every year that passes decreases the likelihood anyone will want to buy him. Doubtful anyone would match his wages

Doesn't strike me as having much drive to prove us wrong

I have no doubt you're correct about the highlighted part and if it was only Ndombele then I'd perhaps agree (although any loan is better that a pay off cos we'd at least be re-couping some of that wage money from the other club)...... However, the partial point of that list is to put into tangible terms that the cost of ripping up contracts left, right and center will quickly add up.

Want rid of the lot?

That effectively costs 1 x Harry Kane and yet I'm pretty sure most people had that money ear-marked in their minds for new players.

Tottenham sign Ndombele from Lyon

2025 - so a 6 year contract

Happy days... we signed a top talent and broke our stupid wage structure

4 years later....

Big difference. Paying off a contract usually means paying a big lump sum.

Staying and being paid as per contract usually means monthly pay cheques, so its spread over 2 years

Only drive he has is to make the last orders at McDonald’s drive through

He doesn't deserve the pay off.

Not a good idea to pay off years of remaining contracts in full and then let the player choose their club AND have the money.

Future players in similar situations will see that and then be content to act the same way.

Better to just put him on gardening leave and he can choose between keeping the money or saving his career.

That's a false equivalence, there was a neccesity for both players as had misdemeanors with Woolwich, Ozil's contract was ended due to politics and him speaking out against China, Aubameyang because of constant discipline issues with Arteta.

Now tell me why we need to do the same with Dier or any of our players?
Because the manager doesn’t need them. He has a bloated squad as he has said & they have no chance of figuring in his plans.
Pay them off, or pay them to the end of the contract and keep them around the club stinking the place out?
I keep hearing them referred to as deadwood.
Deadwood needs to be cleared out.
I don’t care that them lot had political motives for shifting their deadwood.
They did it & with a big upturn in their fortunes.
It seems clear to me that Lego man was trusted and backed. The shit he wanted out was cleared out, & they have progressed rapidly. Morale is good there, deludedly so, but they are buying into whatever Arteta is peddling.
Differing opinions I guess, but it’s more than a coincidence that they got rid of their deadwood without too much trouble and their club has emerged from it considerably better.
