He just never fucking learns. There must be some name for a psychological disorder where I person never learns from his mistakes. I suspect it's possibly called "Daniel Levy Syndrome".

It makes no ref to anything currently happening though........ All it is is the often unreliable DKP throwing a little general narrative in to spice up an otherwise pretty unrevealing report (I mean; pretty obv. DL was doing the final deals this summer).

We've had reports of sales agreed in principal so far for:
Winks (Done)
Kane (Done)
Lloris (refused Lazio)
Dav (refused Russia)

Loans complete or pending agreement:
Tanganga (TBC)
Rodon (Done)

And reports that the following are refusing to leave:
Dier (Fulham)
Spence (Palace)
Ndombele (Galatasary or Fenebache; can't recall which)

Injured and thus currently not sell-able:
Sess
Gill

Who are these deals that have been scarpered by high asking prices?

The football world is mental and so far removed from the real world it fees like total reform is needed.
I'll keep using it as an example but managers - in what other industry can you wake up one morning and decide you hate your job, so the only logical thing to do is act like a dick for a few months to get sacked. And by getting sacked, you pocket millions?
In the real world it's the complete opposite - you get sacked you don't get paid, you get a bad rep and you may even have to pay back expenses.
politicians say hi

If ndombele says he is happy to stay then of course he will just keep receiving the salary he is on. In that case there is no reason for the club to just pay him off and let him also leave for free. That's a win win for Ndombele which is unacceptable....... If he won't negotiate a proper settlement which is much less than the 20 mill then the club will find him a club to go out on loan to like they did with Napoli.
He needs to agree to the loan

All of us base our opinions on information we don't have.

Depending on if it fits, people choose to believe or disregard reports.

The only thing we know is those players are still here.

You can choose to inhale copium and say whatabout other clubs that have the same issues. It doesn't really change the fact that these players are the reason our manager gave for incomings not happening until the squad is trimmed.

This is a failure of senior management at the club.

Have you never heard of gardening leave?

Am I in a world where someone doesn't understand that an employer is well within their rights to tell an employee to stay away?

It is as simple as that. The club say to the player "you're not in the squad, you're not allowed to make use of the squad facilities, don't come to work, you'll receive full (basic) pay"

If the player won't sign for another club, this is the only solution. Under no circumstances should we throw a fuck ton of money at them and release them. That's an even worse financial decision than signing the useless twats in the first place.
Players have a strong union, you can't put them on gardening leave. Pretty sure (can't find the link right now) you tell him to stay home he can take to tribunal with full wages and released.

As long as he is turning up for training, even if you make him train with the youth, he is fulfilling his contract.

I'll take a look later but pretty sure this is right.

It's a theory, but one that largely misses the point.... More immediately plausible is the reports that he's turning his nose up at loans; loans that in previous seasons we've been pepared to indulge cos it saves us money on his fat wages.

You've still yet to explain what the motivation for letting him leave with 20m in his pocket is.

The motivation is that if he negotiates a lower settlement to allow him to leave for free he will be able to sign for whoever he wants.

He didn't turn up his nose at the loan to Napoli and this summer it seems he has rejected a permanent move to Turkey. Again, it's the club unable to accept anything other than a sale or possible loan. The club have to open the option of allowing him to leave for free and then negotiate a pay off which will be much less than 20 mill

That's what Arse did with Aubamayang. He was earning 350k a week and had 18 months left on his deal. That's about 25 mill he could have earned by just staying there. However through negotiations he accepted a 7 mill pay off and Arse also agreed to pay half his Barca wages for 6 months. So Arse got rid of the problem and saved around 10 mill which was due to him had they done nothing and just allowed him to hang around the club for the final 18 months of his deal.

You can't force Ndombele to go anywhere to which he does not consent

And at the moment he may think sitting and doing nothing at Spurs is his best option - so he might give up his bloated contract for say £15m/£16m (paid up front) otherwise he's happy enough to receive almost a million a month.
If that's the case then ban him from coming anywhere near the club and just keep paying him for the next two years. If he is ok with that then fuck him and take the financial hit.

As for players - clubs can refuse to sell them and players can refuse to leave. It's so weird.
Top managers /CEO /traders get payouts all the time in the real world, if they can negotiate it when getting the job and you can't prove gross negligence. If you're at the top of your game and in demand you can put lots of provisions into your contract that are not standard for us plebs.

All of us base our opinions on information we don't have.

My post wasn't to establish an opinion..... It culminated in the posing of a question.

I'd like to think that if deals were being wrecked (deliberately as you and a few other prize charlies have claimed on numerous occasions!) then there'd at least be something pointing to such instances happening......?

The only thing that comes close to my recollection is the PEH/AM situ and they would appear to have wanted to bleed us dry rather than us be over-pricing.

Depending on if it fits, people choose to believe or disregard reports.

LO.L.... You absolute fookin' shit-house nightmare!!!!

Mate, you run a mile when your fan-fiction narratives and "conspiracy" theories (yeh, I said it!) hit a brick wall, so you've no right to talk about "copium". Ditto other club "whataboutery" as you love a bit of it when it suits you.

If the only significnt aspect of any of this is the stone fact that the deadwood remains; then you (and admittedly plenty of others) need not be drooling over shit like DKPs tweet.... In fact you'd never need even inhabit this thread and instead just check the official Spurs site for announcements and not bother yourself with rumour...... But of course we BOTH know that's NOT how you roll at all.

Re: "Just rip their contracts up".......

LLORIS: YEARS LEFT 1 = 5m
NDOMBELE: YEARS LEFT 2 = 20.8m
DIER: YEARS LEFT 1 = 4.4m
SANCHEZ: YEARS LEFT 1 = 3.3m
REGUILLON: YEARS LEFT 2 = 5m
TANGANGA: YEARS LEFT 2 = 2.6m
TOTAL WAGES TO PAY = £41.1m

Also made an appearance on many people's out lists early in the summer:

SESSENGON: YEARS LEFT 2 = 6m
PERISIC: YEARS LEFT 1 = 18.4m
PEH: YEARS LEFT 2 = 10.6m
SPENCE: YEARS LEFT 4 = 5.2m
GIL: YEARS LEFT 3 = 6M
TOTAL WAGES TO PAY = a further £46.2m
We're not paying Perišić 350K/wk

Because I don’t pay that much attention to them?
Will they get a transfer fee for any of them?
I couldn’t even tell you who they are without googling it & wouldn’t waste time finding out.

That shows, you're clearly misinformed about that particular situation, be a good idea to do some research first, it might make you understand why they did that - all you've done is put 2&2 together and made 5.

Also the 5 players they have who are no longer in the manager's plans, they're training with the reserves and on their transfer list.

Same for Maguire at Man Utd, ask yourself why they're not ripping up his contract when they clearly don't want him.
