Should have got him before VDV tbh. He's no idiot, knows he'll ride the bench for us majority of this season barring injury to one of VDV, Romero or Udogie, already 25, probably sees himself going to Monaco to start regularly and play his way to a big move back to England in a starting role.

Concerned now, We cannot let Sanchez go to Forest unless we have a replacement lined up, under no circumstances do I want Tanganga or Dier 1 injury away from the first XI, would be a fucking nightmare.

People insisted such a scenario wasn't an issue as players will always back themselves.

Agreed.

Tosin is reported to want 'guarantees' that he is a starter and clearly Spurs will not give him that assurance. So his transfer depends on whether his mind can be changed.

It clearly would not have worked to sign him before VDV with documentation saying he would be a regular starter ...... and I'm firmly of the view VDV is a better CB.

"Guarantees" aside......

One can only respect his position... Now VDV has hit the ground running; it's perfectly clear that in a season without Europe his opportunitues will be limited.

- A player that doesn't want to be here.
- A player who's happy to be on the bench and just train for a fee.

In all honesty do we want either of those things?

Shame; cos he seems like an ideal player.

That's a bit different to being left dangling while we openly court alt. targets.... Players will generally accept the 'we need to sell X first' scenario as a matter of practicality..... Even if it still means they might accept other offers in the interim.

Agents certainly aren't gonna let it deter them either.

I want you but not enough to sign you before others leave.

Van de Ven we wanted more than you so we didn't wait.

That's how an elite athlete with pride in themselves and career would see it.

they'd then be asking their agent to find them a club that really wants them.

BUT

If they don't get another option and Spurs come back in, they will still take the offer for the right money and come in making all the right noises.
