34 goals over a season but ok. You were saying Ange's system doesnt need a CF who scores 15+ a season but thats not what he had at Celtic last season. The next highest goalscorer they had was Jota with 11. We have a few that could get double figures given a fair wind, Maddison, Son, maybe Richarlison, maybe Kulusevski/Johnson if he signs. But outside of that i dont think we have anyone that will get 5. Bentancur maybe if he gets fit and firing quickly. So yes i absolutely think we need another forward who can chip in.
City had 3 players who got double figures (15, 13, and 11) and the rest of the squad chipped in with goals. That was the season they scored 99. So I think we'll be fine.

But if you insist we need someone to somewhat replace Kane's goals, are you willing to wager we'll score the same or more goals this season?

Johnson for more than Maddison seems insane.

Only if you view transfer fees as ever making sense at all. Sometimes you get an opportunistic bargain like Maddison and it is cheap, sometimes you have to pay the fee to improve at the time. We're never going to only be able to rely on Bissouma/Maddison transfers, no club can.

His wages will be dramatically lower so he will cost significantly less in the long run. Maddison was only cheap due to the contract situation and Leicester's relegation, minus those factors he was an 80m+ player.

Just thought. Johnson reminds me if Walcott. Not as good in front of goal but similar attributes.

We need 2/3 more this window of the requiste quality, then we are talking.

Right now it's very much baby talk

I fail to see the point mentioning City. They have world class players all over the pitch, probably the best playmaker to ever play in the prem and one of the greatest ever managers. Besides it took getting a 30 goal aseason striker to finally win the treble. Yes i think we need another forward, whether we'll outscore last season is moot. Last season was all scraps and set pieces. Its about covering our bases and there are massive question marks over Son getting his form back and Richarlison in general. Think we'll have to agree to disagree.

This is moving from overpay territory and now getting into bloody expensive price gouging now. >£45m for Johnson is a rip off.
It come in like you guys don’t understand Madison was with a relegated team who needed money to invest back in the team brentford don’t have to sell their prize asset to Tottenham they can jack up that price to anything they want

The title is the biggest mystery of the transfer window, watch it if you're curious I guess.

Gold being on Holiday in Italy means we're definitely buying someone.

I get that everyone needs work-life balance / to have holidays, but I really can't figure out how someone who's literal job is to report on transfers goes on holiday during transfer windows as much as Gold does :maddisonhmm:

Huh? If we score more than last season (which was our highest scoring season in the past 5 years) without replacing Harry, why is it moot? The objective is for the team to score goals, not for a specific player to score a certain number. It's really weird logic.
