Doesn't mean you have to pay it.

Tell Forest it's 25mil + 5-10 in bonuses. They say no, you tell them to eff off and you move on to someone else.

The manager wants him

This is what you call backing the manager, it's as simple as that.

We can all moan about this club when it comes to not supporting the managers but when it comes to players we aren't keen on we don't keep the same energy, why?

Let's do an Airfixx and actually check what Man City scored before Haaland got there.

KDB: 15
Sterling: 13
Mahrez: 11
Foden: 9
Gundo: 8
Jesus: 8
Silva: 8
Rodri: 7
Laporte: 4

Total: 83 goals

That's leaving out 7 other scorers who scored 13 between them.

Let's try an picture us replicating that for us:
Son: 15
Maddison: 15 (has never scored more than 12)
Richarlison: 13 (his highest tally in the PL (including pens)
Porro: 5 (highest league tally in Portugal was 4)
Udogie: 5 (highest in Italy was 5 as a WB)
Bentancur: 5 (scored 2 in his entire Juve career)
Bisosuma: 5. (scored 3 goals in 4 seasons at Brighton)

You're looking at 63 goals, which would be one of our lowest scoring seasons since Poch took over. That's with most of the named players matching or beating their best ever goal scoring season, with Bissouma scoring more than his last 5 seasons combined.

Do you see how unrealistic that is?

It's not as simple as "just distribute the goals around". "Yeah, Udogie will get 5 goals, no worries".
You're using Bentancur's goal tally in Italy instead of the 5 he scored in half a season in the PL.

Porro scored 3 in 15 last season in the PL, so no reason he can't do 5 in a whole season.

You're ignoring Kulu and Sarr and everyone else in your tally.

And more importantly, you're comparing their output playing in a much more defensive setup.

So yeah, I still think we'll get as many, if not more goals than last season and I'm willing to put my money where my mouth is, if you're interested.

He’s homegrown, it’s the Premier League market, and everyone knows we just received £100m a couple of weeks ago
Except we didn't ...
We got somewhere nearer £84/86m didn't we?? (Still not to he sniffed at for a 30 year old, don't get me wrong!)

But won't get the rest of it until he wins the CL or makes 100+ appearances probably!!

£50m for a relatively unproven lower PL level player is ludicrous... But then so are half the numbers being bandied about for some very average players these days!!

Agree, think folks would be wise to factor in 2 things:

1. How much better will he look with 10 better players surrounding him, to open up more space for him.

2. How much will he improve, as we have seen with 7-8 players almost instantly in Anges system.

Always thought he had some quality, but haven’t watched closely to know, just hope he’s Anges No.1 target, given he’s lost Kane he must be given half for a player he believes will have high impact.

I'm inclined to agree...

Instead of relying on just ONE player scoring 30 goals, I can easily see a scenario where at least 3, 4 or 5 players can score 10 each, we've already had 5 different goalscorers so far this season... (6 if you include Ben Davies!!)

...except Richie of course... He'll get a few I'm sure, but I reckon Vicario might even beat him for goals this season... He seems the type of lad who will come up for a late late corner if we're trailing!!

This is moving from overpay territory and now getting into bloody expensive price gouging now. >£45m for Johnson is a rip off.
Nonsense if he' s a good striker, better than Richy and will deliver. £50m is cheap for an EPL decent striker. You get what you pay for.
Get him if the manager wants him. Back the manager.

This was mostly my point.

City don't need Nunes, he doesn't really suit them nor has he proven he's anywhere near their level. Yet they want to get him in because they obviously think he adds something and willing to pay way over the odds, probably double his true value to get him in.

Why are we mocked by our own fanbase for doing so?

No one thinks Johnson is worth whats banded about. But frankly, who cares. If Ange wants him and thinks he adds something for this team. Pay the money and get him in.
don't agree on the Nunes bit as I feel City do need him but agree with rest of post.

Great that Johnson is getting closer and all but we do still need a cb!

Ange literally said the other day in his presser that he still feels that there is value in the market if you look in the right places. Johnson for £50m clearly isn't that, so you can only assume the club have got hung up on having another HG player.

You must have a fucking degree in maths, cos you're pulling out numbers I can't comprehend.
I can see where you might be getting tripped up. It's a complicated formula. 6 goals divided by 3 games = 2 goals per game.

But putting maths aside, the encouraging thing is that these 2 goals per game are off an xG of 2 per game. So we haven't been lucky. We're actually creating the chances to score 2 per game in a sustainable fashion.
