He doesn't deserved to be paid off, that's not what we bought him for and that's not how anyone should operate.

We need to get our absolutely money's worth out of him and if that means sending him out somewhere on loan again or making him train in the reserves then so be it, can't be taken for mugs like that.
Then this sideshow will continue. Woolwich were brutal when they wanted to get rid of Ozil, Aubameyang, etc. If we want to move on, we need to be rid.

So what are Fati's main strengths?

Would he dislodge any of our front 3?
308 days out with knee issues in the last 4yrs, a further 193 days missed in the same period for other injury and fitness-related issues.

When he's not injured he's a very, very good wide player, lightning quick which makes him a real handful for defenders, times his runs very well and comes off the wing into oppo box arriving with pace. Also without the ball holds his position well (wide) stretching oppo back-line, with Ange's inverted FB's there are possibilities to link with FB's and 8's in their triangles that we've seen so far (Barca don't really set up like this so just supposition) but Barca do thread balls to him behind oppo defence from Central positions, so Madders could be key in finding him this way. But what he offers that we don't have is 1v1 attacking from wide players (Son and Kulu aren't great at this - Both Son & Kulu like to come inside with the ball - I think Ange is looking for wide player that goes 1v1 on the outside???)

Not read the previous 2500+ pages and therefore not sure of others feelings but in recent years Paratici sorted most things out earlier than this. Now Levy is back involved we have sold our best player without replacement, This morning we had 6 players that could not fit into the squad and only Spence has definitely gone on loan. So 1 day to go and we need to shift 5 players ( 6 in the unlikely event we actually buy a new goal scorer)
Not sure where we are on net spend but complicated by completing purchases from previous windows. However we should be spending money and leaving the Kane money in the Bank only suits Levy/ENIC.
Fans are happy with style of play but goals are what excites me most and winning.
This is the top of the table last season after 7 games undefeated

1Man City71717
2Tottenham71117
3Woolwich6715
4Brighton6613

Does anyone expect to match that without a new goal scorer. Goal difference of + 11 after watching yesterday.

Then this sideshow will continue. Woolwich were brutal when they wanted to get rid of Ozil, Aubameyang, etc. If we want to move on, we need to be rid.

Ozil was because of political, Aubameyang was because of disciplinary, Ndombele is a different case.

And i'll re-iterate paying him off is exactly what he wants so he can have the cash in his pocket, nah sorry you signed a contract to be employed by the club so he needs to honour it.

I really just don’t get why we want Fati or what plan/purpose he would have with us other than opportunism and a chance to “win” a deal

Let’s say things work out is he gonna stay in North London? Fuck no he’s going to want to go fulfill his dream as the star of La Masia. And Barca fans say he’s slight and not a physical presence, best playing off a bigger CF, so is he even really suited to England?
I think you're underrating the chances he's effective and enjoying his football here, is willing to stay, and a skint Barca are more than happy to sell him permanently for as much or less than Johnson.

He might also go thermonuclear and become core to Barca's plans again, and then we're dicked. But that one season is not without value, frustrating as it would be to lose him under those circumstances.

That's only an undue risk if Johnson is a nailed-on core asset. I don't buy that, and am very glad to see the emergence of a different option.

And even if all goes well and he does play well for us that means what? Son on the bench? A very effective Perisic out of the team?
Who cares? Competition is good.

Are we betting on him at RW, when he’s not really a dribbling/crossing winger and not someone who has ever played RW?
I think more likely Richarlison deputizes at RW. I also continue to believe Porro could play there. Even more so in the 4-4-2 we played in the second half last night.

Good players create options.

Perisic brings more to the team than Fati would.
Did you watch the game last night?

I'm not giving up on Perisic and I like his fit, but yikes.
