Just imagine how many goals we would be conceding if we were asking Dier and Perisic to do what VDV and Udogie are doing.
We could have easily conceded less in several games as well.
VDV has a couple own goals and was unlucky not to block Burnley's 2nd.
We can definitely improve but we aren't worse.
My eyes tell me that we constantly leave Vicario with one-on-ones vs attackers.
As a team we're letting in more shots and better goalscoring opportunities, with the difference being the goalkeeping performance. You can call it what you want, I think defending worse is fair.
Absolutely no chance that anyone who's watching our games can possibly think we're worse defensively this year other than basing their actual opinions on stats instead of watching the football in front of them.

People are just pretty dumb about defending: horrible defending that gives the oppositions three massive but they either make a mess of it or the keeper saves our asses (e.g. vs United): good defending.

We were literally a Vicario wondersave away from conceding three to fucking Burnley.
Comparing 4 to 38 matches is dumb so no-one could objectively say that we are defending better or worse because that stat is taken from the whole of the 2022/23 season where the first part of the season we were posting relatively high defensive stats and the last part of the season they got significantly worse.
Like I said it's way too early to say anything conclusive from the stats, they could look completely different in a month.

Am I moaning? I'm saying we've been defending worse than last season so far, but our much better keeper is making a difference. As long as we outscore the opposition I'm fine with it.

I'm not the one who made the initial comparison, and making comparisons is fine, just don't expect it to mean much going forward. So far our players clearly haven't fully adjusted to defending in this system, but I expect them to continue improving going forward.But you made the comparison
We have been defending much better than last season, with or without Lloris.
Much better goal keeper is making the difference? Vicario has only had to make about 1 serious save a game. Last season he would have had to make half dozen in the first half alone.
