Manager Ange Postecoglou

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I like the bit at the end where he says he doesn’t get close to players because he doesn’t want it to affect his decision-making. One of Poch’s many failings.

Thought the same.

That comment seemed really simple but unusual for managers in this era.

Usually they are best mates with their big players now.

Players still seem to love him though. Doesn't over talk and waffle philosophical stuff, just this is what i want you to do. Do that and the outcome is on me. Simple but effective.

I started watching his first friendly v Spammers after 20 mins, already 0-2 down. But I thought on balance of play and decent chances we should have easily beat them. Equally importantly it was the style that was refreshing, none of this anti-football crap that we'd had for past 3 seasons. The change was immediate, and completely rolled back 3-4 awful seasons.

It also tallied with the comments from a lot of you Celtic fans who came on the board even before he joined.

In the PL I'd give him 9/10.

We were a rubbish pen decision away from beating Brentford away first day, 100% record otherwise.

I loved the commitment et al v Sheff Utd but he left the subs very late and the winner was the latest in PL history.

I won't throw the toys out of the pram if we lose v Goons or LFC but I'm looking for good front foot footie that gives the oppo problems. If we win this pm expectations from the less rational observers will just go through the roof. Even 2 draws would be good results compared to the dross he inherited.

A few days ago I posted an analysis of our last 10 or so matches from last season. That pts tally extrapolated would have taken us down, no question. Top 4 from that would be a great achievement.

You will always get front foot football from Ange, doesn't matter if it's against Man City or Luton. The style remains the same. Even at Celtic we went all out attack and toe to toe against Real Madrid in the Champions League at Celtic Park. We ran them ragged for 60 mins, cracked the post, missed a sitter and should have been 2-0 up, they were shocked we went at them like that. They eventually picked us off due to us tiring and them having far better players. He fears no one, he is very much of the opinion let the team we are playing worry about us

Howe is a good manager and I'm sure he would have done well at Celtic, but I'm not at all convinced that he wins the league in that first season Ange took over.

Rangers were coming off a season where they didn't lose a game and were a pretty good side at the time, as evidenced but them reaching the EL final, beating Dortmund over 2 legs, etc. Add to that the fact that the Celtic squad was in a real mess and requiring a serious rebuild. A number of their best players (Edouard, Ajer, Christie, Brown) were leaving, they didn't have a first choice RB, the CB's were gash, the goalkeepers were worse.

Ange's recruitment and knowledge of the Japanese market, along with his ability to galvanise everyone and get them pulling in the same direction, was huge. Howe likely would have relied on the English market for the bulk of his signings, where it is far more difficult to get value for money.
Totally agree. No chance Howe would have done the job Ange did. Like Spurs not getting Slott and getting Ange, same with us not getting Howe and getting Ange

Balls of steel. Have us playing like that at the Emirates after 5 games in charge is ridiculous. Also as much as I didn't agree with it (tbf think Maddison was still sore) bringing off Maddison and Son at that point takes some serious balls, what a fucking man.

John wick vibes.

”I‘m more spurs than you because I have been supporting spurs before you were even born“

You are nothing more than a pathetic bitter old man out of touch with reality of modern football

What you and your ilk seem incapable to understand is, this is a fucking online forum and people are going to have different views everything.

If you’re butthurt by the fact that there other posters from different backgrounds, different generations and with different opinions than yours, there’s a fucking ignore button.

Senile fool.
You should be perma banned for this bollocks, not sin binned.

Ange is something else. We had a terrible pre-season, Kane left days before the first game of the season. His new starting CB arrived days before the first game, basically an entirely new starting 11.

The man has already got us outplaying this Arse "title challenger" team. He's delivering style and results on the pitch and boatload of class off it.
