Transfers January Transfer Thread 2024

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Gallagher isn't good enough to be a starter for us. He's mediocre. Lacks the quality on the ball required for a top player. However, he would be a great rotation option or substitute to see out games because of his off the ball work.

But why would he want to join us as a squad player? Chelsea will reluctantly sell as he is easily replaced. Their fans will complain as he's one of their own. The owners will sell to anyone to make some money/ffp profit.

I think he is a smokescreen for a different target. One of Paratici's many deals to get the best price/player. I think Ange will want players that are better with the ball at their feet than Gallagher.
Short term thinking. Does anyone realise that Ange sees Gallagher as a cog to fit into his system, and that will improve themteam

Every single player you sign isn't going to be 'elite' that's not how transfers work, no-one's going to have a 100% record every window, the point is that the players we have signed have showed that we have a strategy and pushed the club on as opposed to the previous years we were throwing shit at a wall and hoping some of it stuck.
Who, from the pre-paratici era would you consider as successful transfers? Of the late Poch to Mourinho era, only Hojbjerg has lasted this long as a useful player. The rest were binned off because they couldn't meet our requirements.

Sess, Clarke, Ndombele, Lo Celso, Reguilon, Rodon, Doherty, Bergwijn etc. How many lived up to expectations?

I meant the last 5 windows, which start from Summer 2021 so Romero and Sarr.

Emerson hasn't been a success but he hasn't been a flop, Gollini and Gil are flops.

Doc was a good signing and if it wasn’t for Marty cash he might have gone down as an Excellent signing -
Sess was a risk worth taking , he was one of the Hottest prospects in Champo and I was really excited when we got him , just a shame it never worked out.

Yeah I don’t love it and he isn’t going to push Sarr out of the starting 11 but I’d order him than PEH or Skipp as our option at 8.
Agree - We’ll get a good half season out of Blondie until this summer when he becomes surplus to requirements as Devine pushes past him to become our third choice No 8 and 10 and our 6th choice MF.

Not to worry tho - we can recoup our 20M by flogging him off to Palace (back to another lower half side where he belongs 🤣🤣) - maybe we’ll even make a small profit.

Maddison/Kulu/Devine

Sarr/Benta/Devine

Biss/Benta

Can accept Doc, but not Sess. I had a very good inkling that he would flop. I watched him play a a fair bit when we were linked, and he never demostrated anything to make me think he was a future star. I also spoke to Fulham fans who weren't dying to keep him.

He was a poacher, without much of a foundation in things like dribbling, agility, passing etc.

Same vibes from Johnson.
