Transfers January Transfer Thread 2024

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Interestingly on Red Cafe, which I checked on a few occasions, ManU fans were pretty positive on Reguilon making him MoTM several times saying he was one of the few players in several matches who seemed to care a 'wotsit' and put the effort in.

I think the ManU issue is they have a lot of average players in their squad, often on big contracts, and whilst it makes sense for them to sign Reguilon, they cannot move on some of their average players and want to fill the place Reguilon was occupying with a 'top player' eg Topsiba who they hope will move from Nice to them once Ratcliffe's deal goes through (Ratcliffe largest shareholder in Nice)
No question Man U's problems are in part down to overpaying players. Rashford being paid 2x Son for example.

Dier - yes, also wheels are in the motion.

PEH - it is your personal and laughable agenda that everyone else stopped taking seriously like at least year ago.

As I wrote - it would be efficient to move PEH on just because he is losing value, but from pure ability and importance side - he is very much part of this squad. Just in last game his involvement helped us score extremely vital 2nd goal. We have won 4 of last 5 games and PEH has played between 17-90 minutes in all of them.
He’s eighth choice - Ange sussed him out immediately. If we didn’t have injuries, let’s agree that the fraud wouldn’t be involved in the match day squad. He’s doing ok as a squad player but he won’t be happy with that

Regarding PEH - well, that would sound like a fair deal.

Regarding GLC - he mostly covers our medical department beds, so that is pointless comparsion. Even in this season he has been more unavailable more than once.

Combined - if we get 20+10 mil for the pair, then how would adding another 15 mil be out of budget? And 45 mil EUR can get you pretty good player.

GLC has won us points and in very tough games. That point away at City was massive for the belief in the whole project. Just now second half vs Bournemouth, we probably don't win if he doesn't run the shpw second half.

If you'd take 10m for GLC in January I think you are off your rocker. respectfully.

GLC, with a run of games in the form he's in now, is worth more like £30m. And if he carries on as is, there is a decent case for keeping him longer term. Depends whether a material upgrade that fits the Ange project is available in the summer

I guess it depends if Maddison is fit and Bissouma is back early…. but yeah agree for 10M it makes sense to keep him involved

I don’t think we have cash flow issues either so no idea where the poster assumes we need to sell to buy

Looks like without doing much, we are going to have a full squad again - we named a full 25 man squad at the end of the summer including Lloris who has just left and his now vacant squad place will hopefully be taken by Dragusin or other incoming CB.

To accommodate the returning Reguilon, we have to hope that Perisic has given up hope on an early return from injury and will move on or hope Dier moves on.

But that still gives us these options at LB and LCB :

Left Back - Udogie, Davies (also covers LCB), Sessegnon (likely back for 2nd half of season), Reguilon, (also cover provided by Emerson)

Left Centre Back - Van de Ven, Dragusin (or other incoming CB), Davies (also covers LB),

So whilst some welcome back Reguilon, the practical issue is that Sessegnon has not been fit enough to play in first half of season, and so is not able to be loaned out, and it would be folly to loan out Davies who is good cover at LCB and LB ........ so I can see Reguilon being off on his travels again as we will not have squad places spare
Alfie Whiteman was named in the squad because there was a space, cannot think of another reason .
Just take him out. Perisic as well. Cannot keep someone in the squad on the off chance he might play a couple of games in May.
3 spaces. 2 of which are for non HG..

Agree.

Ideally Skipp should not play for Tottenham. Having PEH here at least limits his minutes.

I don't accept we lose £10m-£15m of value by waiting till summer to offload PEH. it's 18 vs 12 ish months to run. There will be many more buyers in summer. Marginal fall in value if that.

Keep PEH till the summer. Learn from the first half of the season.

You don't understand supply and demand at all, do you?

Issue why winter transfer windows are difficult is that TEAMS DON'T LET THEIR PLAYERS LEAVE.
So supply is extremely limited. Demand too is lower in winter, but drop in supply is much greater.

Also, effectively this means that 1/3 of "assets useful lifespan" is over by then. This also should roughly translate him losing 1/3 of his potential value. If we set his value to 21 million now, it would mean - selling now 21 mil. Selling in summer 14 mil. Selling next Jan 7 mil and next summer - leaving free. So estimate of now going for ~20-25 mil and in summer for maybe 15 mil seem quite accurate.

P.S also in EUR not in GBP. No one would pay 25 mil GBP for him.

Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid were all linked to him. Atletico wanted to do a deal but didnt have enough money to do a deal.
That's not saying much, I still don't want him back. If we can get 20 to 30m that's good business.

What :D ?

Mate, you are an optimist of the year...

In 1st post you seem to actually believe that Real Madrid and Bayern wanted PEH? :D
You know... Bayern HAD PEH and decided to ship him, decided he is not good enough. And now they have midfielders such as Kimmich, Goretzka, etc. Also... Real? That had to be Sun article of him being wanted.

And then you say ... 20-30 mil for Reggie? Fullback that has been deemed not good enough by Spurs, Atleti AND ManU?
His current Transfermarkt market value is 10 mil, and if anyone offers that amount, we should sign da thing as fast as we can spot a dotted line.

More likely is that he leaves for free or on loan with 5 mil clause to make it permanent.

NO!!!!
Are you Kidding me a goal, a few good passes and all of a sudden he's worth 30 million?? A handful of good games after being here for YEARS!!

I suspect he was named in the squad as he did ok in preseason but was injured so could not go out on loan, and was therefore named in the squad.

Of course being club trained he was not taking up anyone else's space - as club trained we currently only have Austin and Skipp.

And we do need to look at the squad under UEFA rules as we are building towards that for next season.

I suspect both Lloris and Perisic were named in the squad to avoid triggering a demand for both contracts to be paid up - quite possibly saving a demand for £10m. Lets see if Perisic is more amenable to being moved on this window
