Transfers January Transfer Thread 2024

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

We are after a winger/attacking player this window according to reports? Sancho?
He’s available, potential for a loan with a buy option? Would probably be available for 30/35m??
He earns more than Richy and Son combined - we wouldn’t pay his wages even if he was on a free

Ravel Morrison 2.0, he’s not even at Lingaards level

South London dickhead

I still hope we go for a 2nd CB, I don't want to see Emerson playing there ever again, just let him cover both flanks.

Radu Dragusin’s agent this evening:
He does not think about money, but about prospects for growth and the team he can play for.
We were contacted by Saudi Pro League clubs, but he did not even want to listen to their proposals.
Personally, I have not been contacted by Napoli, Roma or Milan.
In any case, Radu is not thinking about leaving Genoa mid-season, it would be like leaving some unfinished business for him
.
I have had contact with clubs in the Premier League, including Tottenham and others, but at this moment he does not want to leave.
If Genoa talk to someone and reach an agreement, we will listen to their proposal. I don’t know exactly what ideas the club has and what formula they would eventually consider for his sale.

Tottenham Hotspur are prepared to pay over €30m for Genoa defender Rade Dragusin, but his agent warns today that while there are talks with the Premier League side, ‘he is not thinking about leaving mid-season.’

This could put a spanner in the works, as Spurs turned towards Dragusin precisely because they need a new central defender within days, if not hours, to fill the gaps during an injury crisis.

Multiple sources have confirmed that Tottenham are desperate to sign the Romania international and would be willing to meet the asking price set by Genoa of €30m plus bonuses.

Agent Florin Manea spoke to TV Play in Italy this evening and was asked about the future.

“He does not think about money, but about prospects for growth and the team he can play for. We were contacted by Saudi Pro League clubs, but he did not even want to listen to their proposals.

“I have had contact with clubs in the Premier League, including Tottenham and others, but at this moment he does not want to leave.”

However, the representative did leave the door open to that changing if Genoa really do push Dragusin out the door in the January transfer window.

“If Genoa talk to someone and reach an agreement, we will listen to their proposal. I don’t know exactly what ideas the club has and what formula they would eventually consider for his sale.”

Dragusin will turn 22 next month and already has 12 senior caps for Romania.

He came up through the Juventus youth academy and was sold to Genoa after an initial loan spell for €5.5m plus bonuses.

Enjoying his moment in the spotlight...

Looking at our squad in terms of where we're at and needs:

People say you need two for each position but that's never really realistic in terms of actually having two top players for each position, it would be too expensive and players that good would leave to get more minutes elsewhere. Instead I'd say a squad has 3 levels

Starting 11: Exactly as it says. Your best players who when fit will play most minutes

Rotational Options: The first choice back ups. Any injury/suspension or rotation and they're in.
A good squad needs around 6 imo (2 Def/2 mid/2 fw). Ideally they are as good or almost as good as the starters.

Depth Options: Players rarely needed unless a significant number of players out. Inevitably worse than the others but ideally can do a job if needed and not weaken a team that much

Currently I'd say we have:

Starting 11:

Vicario
Destiny
Romero
VDV
Porro
Bentacur
Sarr
Maddison
Son
Richy
Kulu.

An excellent 11. Could improve the fw line a bit.

Rotational Options:

Def : Davies, Emmerson
Mid: Bissouma, Skipp,
FW: Bj, Solomon

This is where we are far too weak, particularly in defence. Any player out there and the drop off is huge.

Depth Options:

The rest

I hope over the next two windows we can get something like this:

Starting 11:

Vic
Destiny
Romero
VDV
Porro
Benta
Sarr
Maddison
New Fw
Son
Kulu

Rotational Options:

New CB, New FB
Bissouma, new Mid
BJ, Richy

Depth Options:

Davies, Emerson
Skipp, Lo Celso
Veliz, Solomon

(+ Backup GKs and youth players)

I think that squad could really challenge

They are under league restrictions right now due to overspending. For every ten million they spend they have to reduce their budget by 30 million, so to buy a player for 30 million they have to sell players for 90 million
It's a salary limit not transfer I am pretty sure.

Sid Lowe

Barcelona’s salary limit, their first-team budget set by the league’s financial fair play rules, is €270m, compared with €727m for Real Madrid. That would be difficult enough, but the amount they are spending on their squad – while down from €676m, and much as they have shed some of their highest earners, such as Sergio Busquets, Jordi Alba, Antoine Griezmann, and Gérard Pique – is €492m. Because they are over their limit, league rules allow them to spend only a third of what they can show they have saved. For every euro spent, they must demonstrate that three have been brought in.

Looking but not doing anything.
Sounds a bit like us!
