Transfers January Transfer Thread 2024

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

It's not ok, because it' Ange's job on the line, What's the point of this new recruitment set up if we are just going to do the same as we#ve always done?
I think that's more aimed at being better at identifying players than previously (Gedson Fernandes, Bergwijn, Ndombele, Doherty, Etc say hi!) rather than just having a new team of guys that say "fuck it let's just pay the fee"...

I don't think we're "doing the same as we've always done" at all, recruitment in the last couple of years seems to me to be chalk and cheese when compared to the few years before it. And personally i don't think that a new signing turning up one week later is going to put Ange's job at risk.
You don't know whether the signing will turn up one week later or at all, you're prepared to gamble regardless of what the manager thinks
But your claim that "it's not ok" may be more the cause of the problem here - I am prepared to accept that you have an opinion that makes sense to you and is different to mine - are you not prepared to offer me the same respect / courtesy?
Of course I accept your opinion is different to mine, it doesn't mean. I agree with it. It's not what I was talking about anyway, the it's not ok is in relation to what Ange wants.

If you are an adult you recognize there has to be a balance and acknowledge that Levy has done a great job building the foundations of the business to become a revenue machine. This has helped performance some seasons as well.

If you are an adult you also have to acknowledge that it's a football club built on the good will and faith of customers (fans). Those fans have been the collateral the business has been built on, the business that makes the board members millions. It's not unreasonable that those fans want to see a bigger priority placed on results over the occasional slight overpay to reduce the risk of dropping points.
Everyone who thinks you're Levy ...

You were the one saying people are being hysterical. I just asked if you see it in the room with us now.

I hope you are ok. You come off as stressed and a bit scared in a lot of the posts you type.
Why are you asking? I’ve said that there are hysterical takes quite clearly.

I’m fine thanks! I’m proud of how our club is run and excited for the future. You?

News Eric #Dier:
Yes, he’s still on the list of FC Bayern and there is a verbal agreement in principle about a potential move now. Talks and ideas about a permanent deal!
But understand there is no final decision yet.
Bayern is exploring additional alternatives.
However, Tuchel is putting pressure and aims for new signings as soon as possible.
Dier was already a topic in the summer as excl. revealed. The contact has never been lost.
#Adarabioyo not a topic!
So we just have to hope that at no point before the end of January do Bayern officials switch on the TV and spot a more capable footballer than Eric Dier then???

:dier:

Throw jabs? weren't you just calling people that don't agree with you "shiny bratts"?

Also, btw google bad faith argument. You use that term a lot but I don't think you really know what it means mate.

Anyway, if you have already got to the stage of throwing insults around, I can either call you a cunt or just leave it to you for the day. You are a cunt but I'll go with the latter.

Enjoy your day, I'll see everyone later for the game or if we actually get transfer news.

No, I said our manager wasn't a brat so if you took offence to that it's on you.

Perhaps you need to Google it because it's exactly what you have been doing and exactly what you continue to do

Me being a cunt doesn't disprove that you're continually wrong now does it, anyway have a good one

Depends how harsh you're going to be really.

In the last 2 years, we've completely revamped our squad and brought in:

Vicario
Romero
Bissouma
Richarlison
Maddison
Kulusevski
Johnson
Bentancur
Porro
Udogie
van de Ven

And that's without mentioning Sarr, who was signed 2 and a half years ago.

With most of those above being key components to the team we have now. If we had another year of bringing in that caliber (on average) with the manager we have in place. We're in for a great period.

You don't build a squad in one window. It's not possible. However, we're slowly building something special.
Well we finished 8th last season, we didn't get a CB in the summer window and it's cost Ange points. With a guy like Levy in charge I don't think Ange has the luxury of time and slow building without results. The media quickly turned on him after a few loses, if we finish outside European places again the pressure is on.

Yes I'm prepared to gamble, I think if we want the player we'll get him, and if someone is going to come in and outbid us, that would have happened anyway as soon as we tried to finalise the deal, even if it was on 1st Jan.

As I said many times, managers always have a list of wants, and they always want them yesterday - why on earth would they say anything different when asked?

I'm sure Ange (unlike much of this forum) will realise that most transfers take time, that clubs usually negotiate rather than just paying the initial price quoted, he's been arond long enough to know how it all works, nothing happening now will be any kind of surprise or disappointment for him I'm sure. :)

Yeah but that's nothing to do with the purpose of employing a new team, if Levy wanted to overhaul the team just so that someone would "pay the fucking fee!" then he'd just do that himself wouldn't he?
The whole point is, people thought he was going to step back and let other people handle transfers. if he just wants to carry on gambling with last minute buys, then we lose out.

I don't mind if we don't sign Dragusin for Burnley, but he must be signed and able to play before United. We are in the best position for a run for the title since Pochettino, in my opinion. Other teams aren't too distant upfront and we are suffering from lots of injuries and suspensions, we were heavily affected in at least half of our games. Now that (we hope) our best players are coming back, if we bring a good CB for the rest of the season, I think we can aim for the title.
