Transfers January Transfer Thread 2024

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Next season, Phillips would not qualify as a club trained player.

Donley and Dorrington would be eligible to play if Spurs nominated them on List B - once over age of 21 both will qualify as Club Trained Players, but I don't think Spurs will include them on List A next season. But if both nominated as List B players then assuming we still had Austin and Skipp we would probably have a full 25 man squad.

Ah ok cheers. So Austin, Skipp, Devine, Dorrington/Donley would cover us. Scarlett or Parrott in theory could replace one of those?

The Don and Levy offering to help?? beautiful…

“But by the end of January 2024, 777 Partners will have had an answer to another key question with regards to one of its football assets: Genoa.

Having purchased Genoa back in September 2021 for a sum of around €150m, according to Reuters, Italy’s oldest club were relegated at the end of the 2021/22 season before bouncing back with promotion in the 2022/23 campaign.

When 777 Partners acquired 99.9% of Genoa's capital, a statement that accompanied the purchase of the club, without highlighting specific financial details, stated that the new owners would “assume certain related liabilities.”

A chunk of those liabilities come in the form of a tax bill due to the Italian tax authorities. According to investigative journalism website Josimar, €106m was due to the taxman.

At the end of October a deal was struck between Genoa and the Italian tax authorities that would reduce the indebtedness of the club to the taxman, reportedly reducing the tax burden by some 65%. The deal would see repayments spread over the next decade.

But that agreement has to be ratified by the Court of Genoa, with a decision to arrive before the end of January. If the Court reject the agreement that was reached it would create significant problems for the prospective Everton owners and the club, which would, according to Josimar, face the threat of bankruptcy.

Sources close to 777 Partners claim that the Genoa owners don’t anticipate any issues with the decision, with the renegotiation done do achieve more favourable terms for the ownership having acquired the tax liabilities from the previous owners of the club.”

Spence wasn't signed to be a starter either, he was signed as a project for the future.

Also a) cost actual money and b) came with great expectation/promise.

.............Hardly the same thing as Pau Lopez as 3rd keeper for 6 months.

The likes of Stambouli, GKN & Fazio have no place on such a list either.

All things considered (relative cost, output and anticipated level); from the last decade alone (and that's before considering the stream of dross during the 90s/early-00s):

Ndombele
Soldado
Jansen
Paulinho

+ maybe:

GLC (until VERY recent potential reprieve)

Sanchez (pricetag alone puts him in the conversation even though I do think he was poorly managed by Poch).

No, same as PL, there are 4 spots that can only be filled by a HG/CT player, if you don't have the players for that then they go unused and you have a smaller squad. You could have zero CT players, it would just mean you only have a squad of 21 players to choose from.

It doesn't matter whether List B players count as Club trained, association trained, Martian trained or whatever, they are available to select in addition to your List A.

Becasue there's a reason he's been playing centre back for his entire career.

Why on earth would you move a centre back, our best centre back may I add, to a completely different position that requires a completely different skill set?

Have you ever played football?
No, I have played it off my face on a pinga though. Was quite good too.
I’m just thinking midfield alternatives because 1. I want to see the back of Hojbjerg this window and 2. If Dragusin is amazing, and he and Micky turn into a diabolical CB pairing, then how do you fit them all in? But yes, maybe overthinking it

Maximum 21 players in squad - and bigger chance of injuries (so even less fit players due to overplaying which is why managers try to avoid that scenario,
Yeah but that's nothing to do with worrying whether List B players can count as Club Trained, which is the post I was responding to.

There's no punishment along the lines of fines, bans, expulsion or whatever.

Oh ok. So it’s an incentive nudge to encourage more CT players not an enforced thing

Yeah, Exodus, there will be a huge queue for a bunch of over the hill players on 5-10x what they are worth in wages…
That's truly shocking. Feel so bad they've all been bamboozled. If only people had been reporting for decades about how societally backwards and outdated that regime is. If only people had been writing for centuries about the Arabian Desert.

:conteshock:

They'll sell all these players back at huge losses, and then buy the new donkies way over market. Rinse and repeat, almost as if that was the plan all along.
