Player Brennan Johnson

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

He hasn’t looked the same player since he got injured , can’t remember the game but he got done dirty , was Forest weren’t it?
Any way I think he grows into the player we want , time with Ange and some more confidence and he will be fine

There's no sugarcoating it, that was really really poor. Bissaka was good as well but Johnson didn't exactly make it difficult for him.

To me, he still seems like one for the future and I’ve not given up on him yet.

He looks like he has some maturing to do, physically , and with a fully fit team we would only see him against certain teams or as a sub. Unfortunately we don’t have that luxury, and I don’t think he’s ready. Our big players give him confidence and without them he does see to shrink.

It worries me that the fanbase will be so on his back it will only make things worse. Needs more time and space to grow.

Plenty of time for him to learn and grow. Clearly a talented lad totally shot of confidence.

Not good enough to be starting most games atm, but needs must. Bring in Kubo or Bakayoko in the summer for RW depth.

I hope he improves exponentially, but I really do fear we’ve had our pants pulled down on this one.

He offers very little. People keep on mentioning his talent, but it escapes me. His wing play is very basic and his crosses are almost uniformly poor. He shows a reluctance to move inside and affect games.

But it’s his work off the ball that is really unacceptable. He just has to work harder. He has to come to the ball and link up play.

He hides out wide and does nothing.

Look I’m willing to give this guy the season before I start being critical. How many players have we seen over the years have a less than stellar first season and turn good. Sons stats the first season were pretty crap. Having said that, he’s going to have to get a lot better. I’ve been thinking it all season but that Man U game was the perfect example of where he should have flourished. Lots of opportunities and half chances. I may be in the minority but I actually don’t even think he’s that quick, or at least he doesn’t seem to hit his top speed very often. Thought he was only bested by Walker last season. You could tell Walker could outrun anyone when he played for us. Can’t say the same for Johnson

Will be gone within 2 seasons. Absolute load of shit. No football intelligence no grit just that stupid sad look on his face all game every game. Played a man down with him can't believe he got 90 minutes. At one point skipp came from dm to make the run on the right wing Johnson couldn't be fucked to make. Lazy frail and quite frankly ain't worth a wank.
Absolutely no chance he’ll be gone within 2 years.

Baring a complete breakdown in club/player relationship (Ndombele for example) Spurs do not get rid of 40 million plus signings quickly, no matter how bad they are.

The thing is, I really do think there’s a decent player in Johnson, but he just looks absolutely scared for his life on the football pitch. He almost looks like he feels like he shouldn’t be playing at this level. (A bit similar to how Sessengnon plays, but Johnson has far more talent than Sessengnon.)

It’ll take a lot of coaching and perseverance to get him to the level to justify his price tag, but I wouldn’t lose all faith in him yet.
