Transfers January Transfer Thread 2024

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I listened to the Sirrus Football Show interview with a Scouse newspaper reporter in the week.

He was full of telling the traditions, history and success that Everton have had over the last half century or so, the Joe Royals, Alan Balls, Lineker's and the like and was using this as an excuse to justify their points deduction being overturned.

Their history was good for the PL should overcome any penalties handed down, if you like.

Self entitled cunts like him didn't say a word about any of the three relegated sides, one that may have survived relegation had Everton remained within FFP guidelines.

It's always ignorance of the laws and regulations that get used as an excuse.

I truly hope Everton get another ten fucking point deduction for alleged other offences.

This should hopefully once and for all send a clear message out to other teams including the oil rich slags in the blue half of Manchester.

They're annoying, whining cunt bags - they all seem to think that they're victims when they've blatantly cheated the rules (what a shock).

Having both Austin and Whiteman on the list, both of whom could be the 3rd GK but not both (the other will be loaned out - couldn't this season as Whiteman injured), so in reality we start with Austin and Skipp of the 4 Club trained players we need to have a full squad - so max we can have now is 23 players plus u21's

Forster is on the list on merit as he's a decent back up GK, last in England squad about a year ago and proved a very able back up at end of last season when Lloris gave up.

neither have played a single minute though. it's like we use them to check a box. either way, of those 8 (which sarr will join next season) we could still improve

The quality of our home grown players could be drastically improved upon. Maddison is one of those in that list as in, he's homegrown.

Having 3 keepers, while that goes along way to circumnavigate the European homegrown rules, it's not very much in the way of firepower to draw from the bench

hence me saying; we could do with replacing one or two of those
I see what you're getting at but buying homegrown players doesn't represent the best value especially if they come from the Prem.

By definition all home grown players have come from PL - and if any sold abroad later, almost certainly the better ones will be even more expensive than just buying HG players from PL.

Just a question of identifying the best HG players and the club's situation and buy appropriately (eg Maddison at £40m is not an expensive player for what he can do despite being HG)

I agree.

Some of our posters are the same though - banging on about what happened pre Premier League like that gives us a right or expectation to winning trophies today. Truth is 1980-2022 we have won exactly the same number of trophies as Everton (6).

Nothing is handed to you. You have to deal with reality of other clubs and do your best in a changing world.

Times podcast was crazy this week. So far anti ffp coming up with all excuses and how it's bad for football. I'm not into conspiracy but it was that bias that they were paid off

I don't get how going hard on Everton is going to teach City a lesson. But that's what the authorities want you to believe, sure.

The reality is, City's previous blatant doping (like Chelsea when Abramovich took over) has baked in their advantage now. Strict FFP won't even hurt them anymore.

The way to fix the competitive balance is a more socialist structure with large scale revenue sharing and a fixed spending cap.
