Transfers January Transfer Thread 2024

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I'm sure this article is just clickbait. But it would be massive. If.

We can’t afford him

Not sure he gets in the team.

We just sold him and haven't really spent most of the fee. We can definitely afford him.

Kane won't come though until/unless he wins a trophy there. For Bayern's sake, Harry's sake, and our sake, I hope Bayern win the league and CL, in time for Kane to make a sensational return to Spurs to win the big treble here under big ange.
I'm pretty sure we spent the money. It was explained on here some time ago. It doesn't feel like we've splurged, but we have. Remember we had a few on loans that had options, well, we exercised those options. We've still got a lot of FFP wiggle room, but as far as incoming funds from Kane sale go, they were allocated.

We obviously need a real-time updating transfer balance-sheet to clarify wtf is going on at any given time.

There's still plenty of chatter about this, from 'top tier' sources.

Newcastle have entered the fray. If he comes to the PL, it I think it will be to us over them. Otherwise he's twat and not worthy of us, obvs.
But nothing from Paul O'Keefe. All he said is we opened a conversation over an exploration whether a deal could be done. Also if you watch Alasdair Gold at all he says unless we sell Hojberg are only targets are targets of opportunity along the line of Udogie and Sarr. I believe we look at the £25M+ fee as way too much for an unproven winger.

It does not matter if we have not spent the money. Kane's transfer fee is £80-100M raise in one seasons revenue to spend all the money we would need to be sure that we could afford the amortisation of contracts over a number of years. So we would need to make sure the revenue was there over a number of years to balance the books.

Otherwise you are taking the suicide gamble that Chelsea have that their is an large growth in revenue to offset PSR in the future when they have exhausted home grown players to sell

We would very likely receive Kane's transfer fees over multiple years too : its rare to get a one off 80m or 100m.

So what we spent on new acquisitions last summer of say 150m will also probably be paid over ,a similar time period. So all that happens is our net transfer indebtedness goes up by say 50m (150m - 100m for Kane).

Then there's the payment of fees for Kulusevski and Porro also kicking in last summer too.

People never get as far as factoring in "add ons" getting triggered, nor potential signing-on fees paid, sell-on fees received etc. either.... Even TFM doesn't make provision for these things in their trf history page.....

Nor do we have any record of how payment installments (in and out) are playing out and affecting our cash position.

........Fans ultimately never have an accurate picture of what we do/don't or can/can't spend.

That is cash flow not balance sheet. Spurs recognise the profit on Kane in the season they make the sale. We will even accrue the bonuses until no longer attainable then they have to be written off. We will need to write off the ammortisation costs on Ndombele in this window because the rumour is that he is looking to move to France and the only way I can see that happening is if it is apermenant transfer for whatever we can get hopefully meaning we no longer have to pay his high basic wage.

Gimenez is an out-and-out striker. I don't think that's what we're looking for. We're probably looking for someone who can play at least across a couple of positions. Plus he plays for a super attacking side in the Dutch league, so his numbers are going to look good. You put Richy in that Feyenoord team and he will bag 30 goals a season. AZ's Pavlidis has put up similar numbers to Gimenez across 3 seasons. Would you sign him?
We are a super attacking side so should be ok.

Cash flow is what most businesses run on - that's why Kulusevski, although be arrived in Jan 2022 with options/obligations it was agreed the transfer fees are being paid now not back in 2022, etc. Called kicking the can down the road in non accounting language

My guess is Ndombele's fees have largely been impaired as he's been on loan and not part of the main squad - main issue now is his wages. If he leaves now we write off whatever his value is in balance sheet, otherwise we review it when preparing the next accounts to 30 June 24. But unless we are lucky he runs the contract down completely - but if we are lucky and the rumours are true he goes back to France without us needing to pay the majority of remaining wages : but sadly think we will still to pay most wages as no other club will want to try to pay most of tyhem.
