Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I've never known anything like it tbh. Its a phenomenon.
Robbie Williams blaring out and post match laps of honour after scraping past 9 men. Lynch mobs on forums attacking anyone who dares say a sceptical word about him.
An invasion of Celtic fans telling us how lucky we are and our own fans lapping it all up like grateful little puppy dogs.
Fans fawning all over his matey interviews
Yet the guys biggest achievement thus far is winning a 2 team league in Scotland.

Hopefully he'll go on to earn a cult like status, but he's a long way from earning it yet in my opinion

Winning the Asian Cup against Son's South Korea probably tops that. IMO winning the J-League tops it too.

Here's a recent quote off the Celtic forums:

See the 96th minute winner by Brennan Johnson there. Mind Kyogo, Abada and Jota scored about 100 goals like that between them under Ange?

I've watched his teams for well over a decade. I don't why, but this current group of players has not and is not playing the way his sides usually play.

Though with all those issues and problems highlighted - I am very far from suggesting we should replace Ange. Absolutely not! I hope no one is going that far even in their most radical thoughts.

I just hope that he can see the issues and actually want's to make changes. I still believe that biggest change is needed in mentality of the players. And also potentially getting in players that can carry responsibility and grab some moments / games by neck.

Obviously still early stages and it was quite logical that first 10-rounds miracle will not last until the end of the season.

I just kind of hope that we return to fast and exciting football soon. Recent games it has been more of a hiding-competition. Who can dig themselves deeper and be more invisible...

Yep, that is something that pisses me off massively. I've repeating it game after game.
We are the most comfortable opposition to play against. We respectfully give opposition players room. We don't really tackle. We don't try to wind them up. We play some nice-boys-game.

It is far from only Bissouma issue. His suspensions have had very little to do with tactical fouling, mostly they have been outright stupidity.

But only players that actually want to make the game hard for opposition are Richie and Romero, maybe in some moments also Porro. Other 8 will happily step aside if there is risk of upsetting opposition player.

I know that this was off from the point previous poster made, but comparison with Kloppo approach was something that crossed my mind during the game. We also play high tempo football, but they very much rely on their wingers to take on opposition defenders and create room there.

What did out wingers do against Wolves? Pulled out of ANY real duels throughout the game.
You can't play this kind of football if your wingers are total cowards. Or well... you can, but then it will also result in 0 clear cut chances created within the whole game.

Angeball lives and dies on the play of the wingers. They're too slow, and they're are too passive.

I was surprised when Kulusevski was signed because he is not the type of winger the system relies on.

Something we should pay attention to is the fact that only 1 (ONE!) penalty has been awarded for us this entire season, despite us having the lions share of possession in most matches and apparently a very attacking ethos. This is the joint lowest in the league. Liverpool, Woolwich and Chelsea have all had 7+.

Despite this low number, I don't think we necessarily should have had many penalties either. So... what does this say?

It suggests at least two things. Firstly we're not getting enough passes into the box when in possession - which is evident in games where we press high, and then play around the box waiting for an opportunity that rarely comes. Unsurprising given that most of the time we're facing 8-10 defenders in two banks of four.

It also suggests that we're not completing enough dribbles into the box. This should be a strength of Son, and Kulu (who, to be fair, has tried more recently).

Potentially it also points to a third issue - a lack of space allowing 1 v 1 on the keeper, a common source of penalties. However, in a high press this is to be expected.

For a team that is supposedly all about attacking, we really have a real issue forcing defenders into last ditch tackles.

We should probably have had c. another two penalties on the balance of what I see given to other teams in the 'top 6'.

Which given most of of games are decided by the odd goal would likely mean 2-4 more points on the board.

From memory Spurs had near the highest successful dribbles into the box in the league recently.

Some would say it’s because the referees hate us. :mourloopy:

Whats a penalty?

I suspect only the absolute best managers ever go into a club and escape the routine round of elation and dismay.

Postecoglou isn't in that elite group and to be fair we have seen what happened to the 2 dinosaurs who preceded him, who gave us a rollercoaster ride, and then just took us into a spiral. Wasted time that definitely was

We are in an era where 2 of the very best managers in recent times, if not of all time, place direct and indirect pressure on all managers around them. We are also in the middle of our longest trophy drought, so we are despeeate for something that resembles progress.

Best probably to adopt a wait and see mentality because we haven't got the quality of personnel or character of player to steam through teams or to overpower our opponents.

If you look at the 3 best teams, each seem to do all of it that bit better.

That's got to be the ambition and whoever the manager, it ain't an overnight fix.

Well, it is so and so.

I agree that he is not by definition Angeball winger.
But in our good run in start of the season, he was nailed on starter, and it worked.

Well basically it is possible to have one winger that is more passive, if -
- other winger is expolosive and willing to exploit the wing
- there is attacking-minded fullback or midfielder who offer overlap option on the same wing
- if such winger will play early balls into the box to catch opposition defense off guard or generally moves the ball on very quickly even if he does not run or dribble past his marker

On Sat 0 of these 3 assumptions were in place really.

But quite unfair to pile it all on Kulu. Son was even worse than him in this game unfortunately.

Neto was BY FAR the highest quality winger on the pitch that game.

That would be a bit of a shock. As of end of December we didn't have any players troubling the dribbling stats.

ultima64 ultima64 means "carries into the penalty area" rather than dribbling stats

Think are top of that and also very high for "touches in opponents penalty area"

Its funny seeing these Ange fanboys come on here and say we dont have the stomach to see a rebuild..

They truly have no idea about our club 😂😂 weve been in a perpetual rebuild for the past 20 years 😂

Theyve got no idea

Because those patterns of play aren’t as easy to pull off in this league. Every coach worth his salt here knows how to set the team to prepare for it. They’re nothing new here. Wolves have a team packed full of internationals who know how to set a counter and how to cut out passing options much better than Kilmarnock. There’s a reason his record in the CL fell off.

The man has a great personality, is a natural leader and wants to play the sort of stuff we like. But he’s not unique or special in this league, it’s seen all these tactics before. The level of coaching at the level he’s managed at before is several tiers lower.

We aren't getting free kicks in dangerous areas either.

It's been funny seeing Ange fanbois from day one really. Have you ever encountered fans following coaches around?
It was a bit of a novelty that Son has fans that would change clubs with him, but I'd never seen it with a coach.
