Manager Ange Postecoglou

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I am going to say this. When our fans sang Are you watching Woolwich. Did none of the people find it embarrassing? We were 1-0 down and people were singing like it was something to be proud of. I was furious walking out the stadium. I didn’t think we could make Champions League even now but I still wanted to win.
I don't have any problem with any supporters who wanted us to win more than they wanted us to level our result against Woolwich. However, in my opinion, we had nothing to play for, except to embarrass Woolwich fans in Spurs shirts. I'm glad that Woolwich fans got the full Tottenham experience. Thierry Henry and co., keep supporting us. That's more embarrassing.

Na that's an absolute bull shit press conference. To call out us who've stuck with it all season. When he played suicide football down to 9 men. When we went out of both cups with no more than a whimper. When we've gone on bad runs and played consistently bad football and he's refused to change tactically and watched him make bad calls on starters and his subs. So him and his players have put us in to this position tonight and the cunt has the cheek to call us out when he's finally decided to change tactically in a game that could give our rivals the title that he should of done over a month ago. Fuck right off the fans are not to fucking blame for this shit how. It's you ange and your players and the guy that employs you. If you want to call people out for not having the right mentality don't call out the fans who've been put in to this absolute abomination of a situation tonight. Call out the ones that have put the fans in to this situation.
hes right the fans are idiots. the fans that applauded this fucking fool for getting his defenders to push to the halfway line with 9 men deserve it. what the fuck do you think is going to happen? that was the only sign youll ever need that this guy is fucking clueless.

he threw that fucking game with his suicide tactics and i think he actually threw the season there and then. id be surprised if some of the players didnt think hes some fat gobby aussie cunt whos not got a clue about football. bentancur outburst wasnt just for being subbed! theres shit behind that.

how dare this fat cunt try and deflect shit onto the fans. walking around in cheap suits talking about how much of a winner he is, cunts never won outside of pub football.

Ange, go and work or live near Woolwich fans for 25 years then talk to us fans about weak foundations, we are the only strong foundations at this club. Mate.
Surely actually winning something yourself is the way to remedy that, as opposed to wanting your team to throw a match (and chance at Champions League) in order to stop Woolwich from winning a league which, let's be honest, they're only not going to win because Man City are a historically great team.

Being scared to death of a little banter at work is the definition of weak foundations I'm sorry to say.

And this is why your lot nor ours will win anything with this mentality. He’s calling out the fans for the better

Exactly. I never want to be in this situation again. If Ange calling everyone out is what it takes to change the mentality of this football club, then I am all for it.

The fans won’t change Jack shit. We could have an empty stadium but if Pep was our manager with the City team we would win titles. Changing the fans affects nothing and that being said the stadium has been pretty packed and loud this season anyway. City have won the league in prior years with half empty stadiums.

Guess that is another one gone soon...

I don't understand his "last 48 hours" nonsense. We have lost 5 in 6, did you think that was acceptable? Also: "Inside. Outside. Everywhere"...It isn't my fucking fault you twat.

The man is something else.

He watches us get slaughtered by all our rivals and doesn't show the least bit of emotion. The crook then watches one of our better performances and comes up with this?

check my post in the match thread a few days ago. I absolutely knew he would play VDV left back, I absolutely knew he would pack the midfield 3, I absolutely knew he would move Maddisons position all in this game. He desperately wanted to win this game above all else and that is because he is a self preserving egotistical fraud. He wanted the world to know that he "absolutely wants to win regardless of circumstances" and he threw the fanbase under the bus and ridiculed us in order to show this.

His moral compass is dodgy as fuck and like I said for a while, the mask (if it hasn't already) will eventually fall off completely.

Incredibly small time, do that shit at home not in the stadium, pathetic.

He stated that the last 48 hours had told him a lot about the club, inside and out and then essentially seethed in contempt at how things had unfolded. He then repeated that 'he just doesn't get it' when asked about fans wanting to lose and 'I'm just here to win'.

It was more his body language and borderline revulsion at what had unfolded.

If he can't understand our history and our rivalry then I don't really know what to say.

But why are we seeing this anger now? Where was there anything like this over the last three to four months? And to choose to do it on the night where we would have potentially handed the title to Woolwich. Did he think he was going to get a round of applause?

I dunno. Strange fucking week. Strange fucking season.

His tone is starting to grate.

Did he actually say anything about the fans?

He isn’t going to throw the match though is he and it’s vastly more than banter. Arse winning the league makes them even more attractive to big players potentially pushing them further ahead of us, it has big implications.

The bloke has spent all season saying he lives for the tough times.

Now it's tough and he's wetting his kickers.

He has to get a better grip on how he presents himself to the fans. He talks SUCH a fucking good game. I don't care about fourth. I just want to win. I'm here to change things.

And then we play like pricks for three months and *we're* the problem because we don't want to hand the title to our despised rivals?

Ange, mate. Get a grip. Stop taking yourself so seriously.

Whilst you're right, he has to go off on one. I saw Moyes laughing about how Spam won't be able to beat the City u14's with the media and everybody gave a sensible chuckle in the presser.

Ange does anything other than show outrage and the entire weight of the media will talk about how he threw the match on purpose.

Is he pissed off we lost? Sure. But he is hamming it up for the media who are watching him like hawks.

If he's going to last, he's going to need to get it on some level. He's not going to get by on "Not interested, mate" whenever a reporter asks about Woolwich.

The one thing you cannot do as a Tottenham manager is disregard the North London rivalry or think it's the same as other club rivalries.
I don't think it's that big of a deal. He probably does understand rivalry, but this was a bizarre situation of wanting your team to lose to stop your rivals. It won't happen again while he's managing us.

This was the only situation where there's an understandable conflict of interest between him and the fans, it won't happen again.

The Spurs fans that are getting their knickers in a twist over Ange’s comments tonight need to give their heads a wobble and stop taking this as some sort of personal insult.

Ange Postecoglou is not a Tottenham Hotspur fan. He is an employee who is paid to win football matches and to try and make us successful on the pitch. His comments tonight were not personal. He was not calling out the fans specifically. His comments were by and large absolutely spot on. Just as Antonio Conte’s comments were by in large spot on. Just as Mauricio Pochettino’s comments were absolutely spot on when he was manager towards the end of his tenure.

From my reading, it’s pretty clear it’s the ownership and the general culture of mediocrity that is strangling the club that he is calling out here, not the fans.

Anges comments clearly didn’t come about just as a result of tonight’s match. My reading of them is, like many of our previous managers, he’s come to realise over the last few weeks and months that the culture from the top down at the club is pretty rancid, that theres
no real incentive to be successful on the football pitch and his frustrations boiled over tonight with all the journalist’s patronising questions.

My only hope now is that Daniel Levy and the board actually listen to this man and the message he’s trying to get across, rather than throw their toys out the pram and press the nuclear button as they did when Conte called them out in a similar fashion. The ball is well and truly in Levys court.

If you’ve watched the presser there’s absolutely no way you can think his comments were at the board and not at the fans, he was being asked questions about the atmosphere and the rivalry, those quotes were his responses
