To challange City over 38 games we'll need a something approaching world class players in a few positions around midfield and in our front three. Son is a world class finisher, and nearly 32yo. Udogie and our cb's have the makings of that quality imo, not sure any others do.

Porro and Sarr have that potential for me but I agree we need world class talent.

Who would you target that gives us that?

Raining The Shawshank Redemption GIF

So that is the below gone:

Dier
Sessengnon
Perisic
Tanganga
Ndombele

So that leaves potentially these to go:

Royal
Hojbjerg
Bryan Gil
Solomon
Davies
Skipp
Lo Celso

Based on this and our youth players coming through we need to perhaps buy

RB
LB/LCB
CM
AM
Wing forward
CF

So 12 out and 6 in roughly.

Anyone officially or better than footmercado reporting it?

If it’s true we have some more wage cap to spend. Wonder what the deal looked like. 70/30 split of what’s left?
Why would he agree to that though?

The only thing I think of is that he has an offer from Saudi, where, because there is no transfer fee, they can pay him at least our wages.

Edit: Or I suppose he is thinking, "well I am going to get a good chunk of my wages all in one go and I can earn again straight away". So maybe he would be better off taking a cut.

Playing Eze instead of Maddison would make us even more blunt especially against low blocks. Eze isn't a passer, he will go by players though but that will slow us down even more and probably become even more predictable when we attack.

Also you know that the 3CB isn't going to happen under Ange don't you?
3 CBs would help out on the counter attack and allow Porro and destiny to bomb forward more. We would t need a 6 then either.

If someone offers him straight 80k wages and we give him £120k that is still £80k worth of savings per week for us over the last year of his contract. £120k is better than 200k.

I doubt we will ever find out but it’s just good it’s done.

We were never getting fee for him so would have been paying at least some of his wages for another season anyway.

Now we have space to add an Eze or a Williams to to the wage bill

Expect Solomon to go out on loan
The others shouldn’t be that tough to get moves for.

That’s a lot of incoming transfers to do but we have a lot of space on the wage bill now…

Perisic
Dier
Tanguy
Lloris

All big wages off the books
