He’s a good example of buying a promising player from the championship and why it’s low risk - Spence too. The latter has been a complete disaster and we’ve still probably recouped 3M in loan fees and 5M in transfer fee.

TBF, signing someone based on performance in an international tournament is pretty much always a bad idea. Used to make more sense when foreign players were more of a novelty and coverage of foreign leagues was mostly non-existent. Now all of these players are easily scoutable going back years in a league setting.

I'd absolutely love to have him at Spurs, he's a seriously exciting talent, but I'm not going to beat my head off a wall if we don't.
Barca simply cannot afford him, nor will they be able to for a few years. They could win the CL 5 times in a row and they'd still only be keeping the Wolves from the door.
I can't see how he couldn't be viewed as an absolutely perfect winger for us, he'd elevate our game, and this is the type of player I believe we should REALLY push the boat out on. His release clause is around £60M? That's buttons for a talent like him. If it meant that we needed to wait until next Summer for another desired talent, because the budget won't stretch to both, then I'm getting Williams regardless, worry about the other position next window, because Williams elevates us now.
If he's of interest to us, as reported, then he can only be top of the list IMO. If such is the case, I would expect us to be bidding. Absolute madness if we pass up a talent like this for that sort of money.
