So we were in for Can and Bowen. We weren't in for Olmo?
They are the three that "got away" this window for me.
I seem to remember us being very much in the Olmo conversation. I don't remember the numbers but it was something like they wanted something like £16 m and we offered £13m. What's he worth now, £60m or thereabouts?

Penny wise, pound foolish, not for the first time.

Can you name me Guardiolas assistant manager? I imagine not. But if you can, how was his managerial career by chance? Any good?

Nobody knows about Pep’s coaches unless they go off after a few years and become managers in their own right.

That’s what Ange is trying to do, take coaches under his wing so they can learn from him and then send them on their way, like Chris Davies.

He’s creating his own dynasty, mate

Or they all get fed up and leave.
Could be either.

You can understand why we are still avidly trying to recruit centre backs and full backs. We were doing well and unbeaten until that disastrous Chelscum game where we lost both centre backs and Maddison and Udogie in one fell swoop. Ended up having to play Davis and Royal as a centre back pairing. The season prior to last all I heard was gooners telling me how they would have won the league if Saliba had not been injured!!!

We spent that 13m-ish on Clarke at the same time. We took a punt but on the wrong guy.

Often take the punt rarely on the right option

I really like Eze as a player, a little better than Maddison I think. But I'm not sure where he would fit in our team. He's not an Ange type of winger. Unless Ange can play with 2 attacking mids, which is a possibility I guess and have a very good number 6 to cover.
Squad game mate.

We've been crying out for quality off the bench so our levels don't drop when we make changes. We've wanted it so that key players have competition for their places. Their form or effort drops, they get dropped and left out if their replacement performs better.

We don't have to shoehorn every new buy into the first team, no matter what they cost, nor pass them up just because we have a good player in that position already.

Eze makes sense, because he'll push Maddison and vice versa. He also enables us to change tactics during a game, if we want some extra creativity on the pitch.

We're building a squad to challenge, not a first 11.
