He rarely coughs up the ball through a bad touch. He’ll get brushed off of it back to goal sometimes but that’s more use of the body/lack of core strength and how the team move the ball.

At the moment anyway he’s not a come towards the ball receive it back to goal and turn type of winger and might not ever be one but if you have other players in the final third who can do it then that’s fine. That’s where the problems were last season. It was all a bit 1 dimensional. There’s more than 1 type of wide player, you also need someone to threaten the spaces in behind without the ball to stretch teams and open up spaces
We'll have to agree to disagree mate.

Nobody is paying 40m for Ivan Toney though.
Pretty sure they will. £40m for a homegrown striker even at 28 isnt terrible.

I'm as keen as you on this one but just think there is a good chance it happens but guess a lot depends on incoming wingers. Would we do Eze/Doue, Neto and Toney for example when we're already pretty stacked. We might not sign a striker at all but if we do i reckon it will be Toney.

POK saying Spurs want both Doue and Eze

Unless we sell Richy I can’t see us doing both and a striker personally.

Brentford will want him out though wont they. They've just spanked thirty plus million on his replacement or who we assume is his replacement.

It is an interesting one to watch however. I still think Newcastle could be the destination if they move on Wilson. He started his career up there and they need rotation for Isak.

Might be if he runs out of options, not sure his ego would take being 2nd choice behind Isak.

have a feeling we aren't bothering with a forward now Richie has made it clear he's going nowhere, I expect Son to be CF with Richie as his backup, and one off Veliz and parrott to round it off.

main big money to go on attacking mids/winger

I'm not mad at it because the striker market is kinda dead, I think if he's fitter this season Richarlison is as good as a Toney, and maybe we should try and invest in our kids (veliz, parrott, scarlett)

Yeah agreed and same it makes sense to me as well.
We get Doue and Eze for the same budget as any of the strikers worth having. And that’s if you can even get one

Our wide forwards where the biggest issue last season, it affected our defence as well due to them have no press resistance and losing the ball all the time while our defence had a high line.

Neto is a player who is brilliant at retaining possession in attacking areas, so is Eze while Doue looks the same. Son, Johnson and Werner are not that great at that sort of the game and it fucked our attack and defence.

For me more important than a striker just due to how we play.

Such a simplistic way of looking at things, look deeper than the stats.

1. "15 goal involvements" so are we saying 5 goals in 32 games is a good return for a winger at a club with ambitions of winning things?
2. Of those "goal involvements" only two came against top 8 sides. The assist vs Liverpool (when we were 4 nil down) and the goal against Villa. He is not a difference maker against the best sides.

He is a decent squad option to roll out against lesser sides but he is not keeping any Woolwich/City defenders up at night before a game.

If we go into the season with him as our starting winger we will win fuck all. Upgrade needed.
Remember that season when the media said Kane's goals were essentially worthless because we were already winning when he scored? And that because he scored an own goal in a game we lost we'd have been better off without him? 🤣

That's what this bollocks is. Yes, his goals were a bit low but the cunt averaged a goal or assist every other game. Only two players bettered that ratio, Son and the much maligned Richarlison.

There are bigger issues in the squad than Johnson. He also hit the frame of the goal four or five times last season. And put in some great balls which weren't finished because of poor quality from others.

You do you, but I think he's worth persevering with.
