90 games?

Half it and you've got the exact number of games he's probably played in total minutes.

At 18.
Kid started 11 games out of 26 season before last. Averaged 43 mins pg. Scored 3, assisted 1.

Last season: played 31 but only 17 starts, averaged 53 mins, scored 4 & assisted 4.

Obviously I can't see into the future, but if he stays at Rennes (and injury free), I bet he'll play 34 (Ligue 1 has 18 teams) of which 25-30 will be starts, his MPG will hit the 65-75 mark and he'll score 8-10 with minimum 6 assists sprinkled on top.

One thing I hope I never see is Romero playing in midfield.
With rare exception you usually try to play with your best players in their best positions. It's also how you figure out where you can really most benefit from improvement in the ranks. Romero playing CDM is bizarre and depressing for me- the man won the world cup as a CB- why in the hell would we ever want to regularly start him elsewhere?

I'll never understand how some of you manage to find time to watch non-Spurs matches. I struggle to catch all of our matches, and truthfully rarely succeed (and that's without European football).
It's rather simple to be honest:

1. No missus = plenty time to watch football (and yeah...the odd youporn)

2. Got a missus? Make a deal with the devil ie I'll watch a fair bit of footy but in return I'll do most house chores, get you flowers on the regular and no less than 2 posh dinner dates out on the town per month. If she comes with me to the ground, that's a full 3 or 4-day weekend I'll have to spend learning how to knit or zumba. Sex bans can also be imposed unilaterally by her highness, even though I've fulfilled all my contractual obligations and some. That Colo Colo vs Santa Cruz in the Copa Chile better be worth it...

Thats pretty funny Toney content fair play!
Got to say though I HATE seeing players do the eyes, Jorginhos, B. Fernandes and stuttering or straight run up pens - just hit the fucking thing hard into the corner and the keeper can't save it.
See Kane, Shearer, Van Nistelrooy - the best pen takers do this bar one in ten in the middle.
I'm 100% with you, my man. So sick of that bullshit. It's already hard enough for them keepers, give them a friggin chance.

I don't even mind a pen taken right down the middle, especially when it's a defender or guy with limited tekkers.

But them stuttering runs, jumpy shit...that bollock gotta be put an end to sharpish.

Yeah I also just don't think Romero has the ability to play there.

He's an excellent centre half.

Playing central midfield is a lot more demanding, have less time on the ball and the game doesn't play in front of you.

Where is that me saying I really want us to sign him?

Eze is meant to be 60m up front because of his release clause (apparently). That’s easily more than the first instalments on 40m players like Gray and Doue.

Are you still pissed off because I pointed out that thing about 8 players for 4 positions? Why make things up now just to have a dig ?
you're really not ok are you?

ok you didn't say word for word verbatim that you "REALLY" wanted him (that I can find) but you've clearly stated how much you want him (those 2 examples I've given above amongst a ton of posts about him).

YOUVE NEVER SEEN HIM PLAY ffs. Do you not understand how odd it is that you can make these claims about his supposed potential when you've never seen him? it beggars belief but crack on.

Ginola had to leave France because he over hit a cross v Bulgaria.

"After being barracked by French fans and branded as the "assassin of French football" by the French press, Ginola moved to England"
It's mainly Gerard Houllier's fault that Ginola got abused to that level. Absolutely vilified him in front of the whole world right after the game, then used his media contacts & friends at the FFF (French FA) to completely ruined El Magnifico's reputation and NT career. It was nothing short of a targeted smear campaign led by Houllier...absolutely despicable behavior, all that because he didn't want to face the music himself. May he rest in peace, obviously, but he wasn't the uber gentleman of French football he often got labeled as. Some of the stuff he did to Le Gin back then, he'd have been sued these days.

But in the end we should still thank him, cause Ginola opted to move to England and we got to see him grace the Lane time & again. What a truly fabulous player. And handsome bastard.

Can't normally be bothered with the past but it was an absolute pleasure to just watch Ginola play the game of football.
Disgraceful how Houllier treated him.

Anyone think Ramsey would be a good buy?. I am not so sure. Would rather Eze.(different type of players) Seems Ange wants versatile players in this window.

What If............

Vicario
Porro - Dragusin - VDV - Udogie
Romero
Bentencaur - maddison
Johnson - Son - Werner
Leave Cuti where he is.

Try Kulu at the 6. He's big, strong, gets stuck in, kid's got a top footy IQ, can defo ping some sweet passes, can still make runs into the box...his lack of pace defo hurting us less there than on the wing.

Because the market for #6's is dogshit.

Pretty much the only world class all round #6 right now is Rodri. Everyone else involves some sort of compromise, either defensively or on the ball.

Woolwich spent £100m on Rice before they realised he can't progress the football and they couldn't create any open play chances. Their season only kicked off when he was moved up to the #8 role, and they're already looking for a new #6 this summer given Jorginho's age.

Chelsea blew £110m on Caicedo. Difficult job going from RDZ structure to Poch chaos-ball, but still that's a lot of money for someone who couldn't adapt to a new style and shows the pitfalls of spending so much.

Liverpool also tried blowing their load on Caicedo too before settling on Endo, who was fine defensively but again weak in build up. Vice versa with Mac Allister. It was a position they struggled in all season.

United blew £70m on Casemiro who they're already trying to ship because, again, he can't build up possesion. Fine when it's Kroos taking on that responsibility, less so McTominay.

As for us, we started incredibly with Bissouma before he reverted to type and our season never fully recovered. Bentancur had moments but where he improves us there defensively he lacks in terms of build up, particularly receiving back to goal. Hojbjerg and Skipp have similar problems.

Maybe there's a chance Sarr could eventually convert himself to a #6, to me it looks like he has the raw attributes, but for now it seems he lacks the positional responsibility for the role.

So, when you look at our options this summer, either you pay £50m for a defensive rock like Onana, Ugarte or Palhinha and have to compromise on build up, or you sacrifice defensive solidity by getting someone like Vitinha and run the risk of your midfield getting run through every time the opposition counter attack.

Given our defensive structure on counters last season, the latter option doesn't thrill me, but then nor does watching guys like Onana plod about struggling to progress the ball in possession.

My preferred option would be to adjust the way we play to more of a double pivot. It removes the responsibility from any one player, and you can combine players with different skillsets so they compliment each other. Any of Bentancur, Gray, Sarr, Bissouma, Hojbjerg, Gio, Skipp could probably do a job in a double pivot in a way they wouldn't be able to as a solo #6.

I know it's not how Ange likes to set his teams up but frankly you play the cards you're dealt. Unless we're looking to sign Rodri this summer or Gray turns out to be Busquets reincarnated I don't see an alternative, other than blowing £50m on someone like Onana and accepting that we just won't be very good in possession as a result.
Brighton just signed a very good no 6 for 30 mill. Mats Wieffer.

Wieffer was seem to be a 8 in Feyenoord. The problem with him being a lone 6 is that he’s a front-footed aggressive player. As a lone 6, doing this can leave the midfield exposed if not timed correctly & the opponent can easily bypass the mid-block. A lone 6 has to have positional discipline & stay at the base.

I really rate Ramsey. Really good ball carrier, good feet, potential to score decent amount of goals. Injuries the only worry and why people have slept on him. they both could play in the same side. Ramsey more an 8.

Would Ramsey and Eze/Doure be 2 really good signings so. Lange seems to be focusing on data from past 2 seasons. Ramsey would not look good on stats last year, but he's so young. I just hope we sign a striker and cover for left side of defence.

How dare you question our resident football genius, don't you know through his extraterrestrial tv package he can see into players souls and judge what they're like as people and what their potential is without ever having seen them kick a ball?

Shame on you.
