How Dry should our Powder be?

This is a fair point.

But equally £38m is quite a bit less than £60m, which these days should buy you something fairly close to the finished article; Olise just went for that amount (admittedly with a release clause) and his stats blow Doue out the water.

I dunno, I rate Doue from his clips but his stats really aren't all that much to write home about. For me he's worth a punt in the 30-40 range, any more than that and I'm thinking just spend it on proven output, like a Raphinha or someone.

Here are Olise's for comparison, again in a much tougher league:

Interesting.

How does Nico Williams, for example, match up to someone like Timo Werner using these stats?

For all you Neto obsessives:

For the record I do think he's a good player. But they really aren't great stats - 3 goals in 3 years? For a guy whose hamstrings are made of paper and who Wolves want £60m for?

Of course football isn't all about G/A but that really is a worryingly low output.

Yeah you make a valid point. Maybe as much for the Kulusevski haters as the Neto obsessives.

What Neto does give us is the ability to beat players 1v1 when they sit off and that is missing. He does hold onto the ball a lot though and for 60m those stats don't jump off the page.

No way Levy pays anything near 60m for either Neto or Doue, just never going to happen. Both too expensive for his taste, as both huge gambles. We will either wind up with Eze, who ticks more boxes in that he is home grown, has premiership experience and no paper hamstrings or a 20-30m gamble on another up and coming player.
Go get a proper striker if blowing amounts of 60m+

He's more likely to pay that for Doue and stick him on low wages as opposed to Eze who is a £60m down-payment up front and will one of thr highest earners in thr squad. Neto you might be right though.

ST: ??? / Richarlison / Lankshear
LWF: Son / Werner / Moore
RWF: NETO / Johnson / Kulusevski
CAM: Maddison / EZE / Donley

That would be a pretty good set of attackers with each offering something different, and our youth providing depth when needed. Just surprised / a little disappointed no real movement for a top #9 yet.

Yeh we're not getting Eze, Neto, AND a striker. Did some of you start supporting this club yesterday? That alone would come to £170m assuming we find a striker for 40 odd. Factor in Gray, Bergvall, and back ups at CB, LB, CM and we're looking at over 250 for the window

Let them spend it. He’s nowhere near as good as the player, Douglas Luis, that he’s replacing.

I agree.

However having seen him a few times, the young Argentine Berrenechea who they signed from Juve most definitely is a good replacement for Luiz.

Caught my eye big time when watching Frosinone for Soule - but whether or not that'll translate to the Prem is another matter.

Eze for 60m+ suddenly starts to look alot nicer when Onana is worth 50m

Also, whenever I’ve seen Neto for Wolves, he’s benefitted from their style which is to sit deep but break quickly with a lot of runners. This means he often has space to run into and can often just run past players. He does look great for them.

For Portugal he has struggled to get minutes and make an impact against teams that (I assume) play more defensively and give less space than he is accustomed to at Wolves.
Posters are forming an opinion based on his game against us.
Like Bongani Khumali and Moussa Sissoko.
