This is what all the enic defenders simply can't see.
Levy and ENIC have their fingers in many pies. Just because they're not directly taking money out of THFC, doesn't mean they're not making an absolute killing because of THFC.
The more the club is worth, the more they can use it to borrow for business completely unrelated to the football club. It's not on the balance sheet. It doesn't show because it nothing more than a guarantee that if the other investment doesn't pay off, the lender can take a chunk of the club.
I wonder if the defenders of the owners would be so happy to do so if chunks of the club had to be given to lenders due to a failed venture....
The problem is, I don't think too many people actually understand this, which is why they choose to ignore it all the time and never even mention it.
The goal isn't to win leagues or champions leagues. It isn't to build a dynasty.
It's to spend the bare minimum to keep the club a world wide recognised brand, add as many non football events to the schedule as poss to further enhance that brand, and then use that as a way to do other deals.
Don't spend too much, as that's a waste. Winning things isn't the goal. Winning things raises expectations and that means spending more.
I think they can see it, they just don't want to acknowledge it.
It's kind of understandable. To a point.
When you've held a position for so long, and argued so passionately and relentlessly to support that position it must be very difficult to come out and admit that you've been so wrong about something for so long.
A few have. And massive respect to them for doing so. But some will never find it within themselves to pluck up the courage. Even when 25 years of evidence is staring them straight in the face.
I mean, surely Levy's attempt to destroy English football with the European money league finally put to bed any remaining doubts. And that was 3 or 4 years ago now
I belive that Joe's stake is now owned by a family trust so he no longer has control over it.
Tbf, that last part I kind of supported Levy on.
He wasn't the one trying to make it happen, he was trying not to get left behind if it did happen
Discovering that business owners use their businesses as leveredge for outside interests is like discovering the tooth fairy exists well into your 20s, I mean duh - what do you think other owners of football clubs do, do you think they sit on their arses on their multi million pound assets and not capatlise on what they've built?

Same old isn’t it. I should say I can’t believe people really believe we go in to this season with a real good chance of winning silverware . & the owners/levy have been doing all it takes for us to finally win a trophy. Another average window with no realistic chance of competing for the title & more hope than expectation of finishing ahead of our bitter rivals.
But I do believe it! as enic/levy strangely have fans who will back them no matter what. Then act shocked when we win nothing as per usual. Then list excuses why we can’t compete with the like of ten Haag who has won more in just 2 years than enic/levy in 25.
IMO, the people banging on about our net spend over the last 5/6 years have missed the bigger picture.

1 season of shiny new toys.
Ange is the first one since Poch in the 15/16 season to start a 2nd successive season. And we know gradually Poch was backed on and off and we never really pushed the boat out despite a position of strength we never had before or since.
Yeah I remember hearing that stat during a match last season . We haven’t had a manager last a full season for 4 years or something. What a shambles. Shows how inept the owners & levy are. That’s so much ££ & time wasted!
