6ft2 is dead tiny by NBA standards. Even point guards are like 6'8 these days
Yeah it’s kind of jarring, I remember when Steve Nash came to visit the training ground a few years ago. He was viewed as the smallest scrawniest guy ever in the NBA, and then look at him next to Jan and Dier:

Because we were never likely to pay release clause and now Palace know they don't have to negotiate? Simples

If we were never likely to pay the release clause in your view then I don't know what difference it makes.

Regardless of that no-one really knows what are we are looking to do with Eze or know what Palace are willing to accept for him, just have to wait and see!

With you 100000000% if this is talking Solanke.

Nothing personal but if we sign him that is absolutely us saying we are a second tier club.

Newcastle wouldn't touch him and neither would Chelsea let alone the top clubs.

I just don't see the arguments for the bloke and he has zero sell on.

Completely accept I might be wrong but this smells of desperation.

I said I would be sikent on it and will try to keep to that but it's hard when you see posters who 2 seasons ago would have laughed at the thought.

What is so hard for you to understand? They walk in because they are 100% compatible for the style of play the manager clearly is desperate for. Umming and ahing over Son at LW/ST all season long as well as moving Kulu around like a chess piece (suddenly he's now being touted as a false number 9 wtf) shows these players aren't ideal for the system. It's not working and Ange has emphasized this point a million times. If you've seen anything of Summerville and Fullkrug you'd know they are far better suited. You confuse compatibility with general talent.

Big clubs are prepared to bench big players. There would be nothing stopping Son from proving he can adapt to LW from the bench - it's not a black and white situation where he couldn't reclaim his place if others ahead of him fail. All I know is that there is enough proof from last season he did not own either of those positions nor did Kulu or Johnson in theirs. Ange is clearly uncomfortable of starting the season with the same front-line, just read any of his recent statements about the need to improve it.

You're not really saying anything ground breaking here, we all know we need upgrades to our forward areas, you seem to think Fulkrug and Summerville are upgrades over Son in either position which is crackhead talk, if both are upgrades that Ange could desperately want then why didn't we go for either?

You're talking about big clubs bending big players yet at the same time pining for 2 players that no big clubs went for, make it make sense please™

ok so what shall we do in your opinion?

Tell our scouts to fucking scout.
Fed up with being linked to players who played well once against us or have a good youtube compilation clip. I want thorough scouting and data to back up the eye test. I don't care if the player we sign isn't someone I've heard of.

Nah, the are all 2 inches shorter than the listed height in the NBA. Footballers have no reason to do that. Solanke probably about the same height as Russell Westbrook in person.

Footballers are all "genuine" height. Jonny public on the other hand usually add an inch or 2 for some reason. So when a player is listed at 5ft 10, Jonny Public thinks that's small. Then you see the 5ft 10" player and he looks 6ft. Because most "6ft'ers" lie.

All three at least 3 years or more younger at time of purchase.

Havertz, donkey, but German international, everyone said was shit and crazy money.

Hojlund, didn't know much about prior to United so can't really comment. Seemed crazy for a 19 year old though but United throwing fees and wages all over hoping something stuck. They repeat each window so doesn't seem to matter if a player works out.

Nunez, was £73mil, 4 years younger than Solanke and coming off 26 goals in 28 games in the league. Pricey but seemed a good purchase for them at the time.
Nunez is actually a prime example of why we should have reservations about Gyokeres. 26 in 28 in the Portuguese league, couldn't hit a Cows arse with a banjo in the PL.

What's with these weird inferiority issues? Do you think Liverpool stopped being a big club when they bought Jota, or City when they bought Kalvin-Phillips?

I find it difficult to believe that we'd waste all the time and effort on negotiating with the player/agents if we didn't at least have 'some' idea of how much (if not the structure) the selling club would be willing to accept.
I find it difficult to believe the WLB ITK more than anything...

But that seems to be the implication of this "news".

Will then enter club to club talks doesn't sound like we've scoped them out as yet.

Solanke is comfortably better than any striker Chelsea have on the books and the guy they are linked with from Spain today. The guy from spain they are linked with might one day be a beast but he might take until he hits his prime at 26 to get there.

Solanke would never go back to Chelsea anyway because he was an academy prodigy there who they gave up on because they went from the likes of Jose to to Conte. He was actually their youngest ever Champions league debut. Still is I think. So that tells you how highly rated he has always been when you consider their academy has been the best in the country for about 15 years.

Havertz who was often a total donkey went for £65m, Nunez for £100m, Hojlund for a giant wedge.

£60m gets you proven mid to decent range striker in todays market, you accept that or don’t compete.
I know, but the original post I was commenting to was this:

The striker market isn't that bad, you have Solanke, Toney, Gyokeres all available. People here are just turning their noses up at all options that aren't from a foreign league.

In what world is the striker market not bad when those 3 are the best options out there?

I'll answer when you can get beyond answering 2 questions with a question.

You're great at calling out others for picking and choosing what they answer to. Front up.
Eh?

You say our rivals would be going backwards if they don't make any signings so I asked you who those rivals are.

I have a feeling you don't want to answer that question because it would make a nonsense of your claim that our rivals are going backwards hence the hissy fit and talk of fronting up lol.
