How Dry should our Powder be?

Depends on who those 3 are but if we do get 3 first teamers that’s the potential of a strong window.

Believe it when I see it
3 first-team signings is really the least we should have been expecting.

Gray will get minutes but he's not displacing Biss or Porro any time soon so currently we have signed no first team upgrades and we have less than 4 weeks remaining in the window.

Hopefully it's CF, RW and LCB/LB. No more fucking CMs!

IMHO Boley would sell to anyone who’d stump up the cash.

I don’t think Gallagher ever wanted to join us and Ange doesn’t want reluctant participants.
Why did appear as though we have been after him then since Ange joined. The rumours never went away. Even though the player most likely never wanted join us. What a complete waste of everyone’s time.

Solanke is alright. Pretty good striker. If we sign him for 65m we’ve had our pants pulled down though. Weird how we seem willing to pay big bucks for the likes of Johnson and Solanke. Decent footballers but they aren’t raising anyone’s bar.
That’s ultimately my fear. I’ve praised Solanke in the past when watching the odd Bournemouth match. He’s a complete striker who doesn’t really have a weakness, he’s good in all aspects of the game. Certainly a more developed and safe bet than most strikers on the market.

I’m sure he will score 15-20 if given a shot as the main striker under Ange, just as Brennan did produce in his role under Ange.

The problem is there is no superstar quality to Solanke. He’s a good player without being great. That’s the main issue facing our attack anyway, pretty good works until it doesn’t, and to break through to trophies you need elite. And when you spend huge money on “pretty good”, you place a hard cap on the ceiling of your potential project. I grow more and more convinced that the Ange project has a high floor but given our transfers, lacks a very high ceiling.

I think we need another attacking midfielder more than we need a LCB/LB. Between Davies, VDV and Spence we can cover the left side of defence if Udogie is out. Aside from Maddison we don't have another senior midfielder capable of creating chances regularly. We already saw what happened to the team when he went off the boil last season, that will be far more costly if it happens again than having to play a utility player at LB.

If Solanke was foreign and had scored 19 goals in a lesser European league instead of the PL last season, people would be jizzing in their pants over him.

O Keefe says he thinks it'll be Eze or Neto.
He's saying we'll bring in a CF, a wide player, and a "lesser named" player.

I just wonder if the thinking behind the deals are also tied into Ange saying the squad rebuild can't be done in one window.

Ezes release clause will still be there in January and next summer (unless he stupidly signs a new deal) -, makes sense just to do it now but Ange may think right now we're stacked in midfield whilst the likes of Bentancur are still here.

Rather we just got him in now though tbh. But maybe Bergvall and Moore gave him some food for thought.

Well Ange underestimated the hatred between Spurs and Woolwich last season (enough for Spurs fans to want us to lose against Man City to allow the Arse a free hit to the title)

...so maybe he underestimated the hatred between Chelsea fans and Tottenham... enough for one of their Chelsea supporting players to hate us enough to NOT want to join!

I think Ange knows full well what rivalry is... Maybe he just thought HIS pull was stronger than OUR repellent!

We don’t need a superstar CF.
I’m happy to get a low-key guy who bangs in 20-25 goals.
Look at Woolwich’s buys — Jesus, Havertz etc. — not a superstar amongst them but all above average, serviceable EPL players who can, more importantly, play within their designated system.
