Hopefully Solanke is an upgrade on Richy (in availability if nothing else).

But there is something that feels a bit small time about it. You just can't imagine any of the other top 6 having Solanke lead their line.
Yeh Gooner scum and Chavski have a certified 'sitter misser' ,Pool have a striker that's missed the most clear cut chances ever and United have a young forward that went months without scoring.

Only City, Newcastle and Villa have a reliable goalscorer in their squad.

Solanke is a target man that’ll score goals but won’t take us to another level.

No one was asking for him or mentioning his name before we were linked. Facts.

To be honest, Solanke looks like the will do well under our system. He has good movement and is excellent at attacking crosses - something the rest of our forwards struggle with. He's a quick thinker, good passer and can hold the ball up. He also likes to drop deep and get the ball moving up the pitch quickly.

Toney's stats are inflated due to penalties. He's a good player, but not what we need - he won't press and run himself ragged.

Go watch some highlights of his goals and assists - very similar to how we want a striker to play.

It’s fascinating, in fact I rate Solanke higher, he can run the channels and dribble with the ball more consistently and most important, he’s not a grade A bellend
And Solanke was like, the best pressing forward in the entire league last season, or something like that.

So even if he doesn't score 20+ goals in a season he is going to contribute and upgrade our general play. If we press better up top that's going to open it up for someone to score even if it isn't him.

We've needed a striker since losing kane. Richarlison has proved to be unreliable due to injuries and we need someone week in week out. He wasn't my first choice but he's definitely not shit and you may just see a player go up another level next season who knows.

It also goes someway toward addressing some of our out-of-possession problems too.
