I would have signed him just for the name

I think people see Solanke as a come down after having Kane. I don't see why a player needs to be PL proven, lots of teams buy CFs from abroad. For those sneering at Solanke, who is the alternative? We can only sign players who want to come to Tottenham. Not being in the CL and being miles away from a trophy is a major handicap. Aside from unproven talents from outside the PL, who else could we get that would bring a reasonable guarantee of goals?
I think the young signings we have made look good deals for the long term.
My only problem with this is, that we are relying on lot on inexperienced players should injuries occur.
A few bad performances and the confidence levels drop.
It's a difficult situation because, ange system relies on energy/legs which youngsters provide.

Cant speak for anyone else but i'm not sneering. He's alright, a small improvement on a fit Richarlison but it hardly sets the pulse racing does it. It feels like the signings we used to make like Ruel Fox, Chris Armstrong, Andy Sinton and more recently Richarlison. Decent mid level prem players that would be seen as good signing for a club pushing for 7th.For those sneering at Solanke, who is the alternative? when he was a kid.Toney is much less risk than Solanke. Hes consistent and ready for a step up. Solanke has fluffed his lines at 2 big clubs.
AS I WAS SAYINGAnyone with a slight bit of football knowledge knows Toney > Solanke
As much as I'm not that against the idea of signing him and agree that the prem proven alternatives are not much better... one season of 20 goals and just shy of 10 goals in the two seasons before that is not that exciting is it. Lets be honest, no one would be really kicking up a fuss if we could get him for 40 odd mill. I know it's a sign of the absurd times for transfer fees but 60 odd million for what he's achieved so far, along with the faffing of our club at moving players on when things don't go to plan, adds to the reluctance to go balls out!For those sneering at Solanke, who is the alternative? Don't jinx anything, we're Spurs!!!Should have gone after Mbappe with Haaland as our back up option.
I think Solanke is a better, fitter option than Richy. Unless he falls off a cliff, he’ll bag 20 goals in this system. A healthy Richy could have last year.
Exactly mate. Foreign Joe always gets the nod before an English player. I’ve tried not to get involved in the usual transfer talk shit this year because it’s always the same. Solanke fits our system 100%. He’s big, quick, strong, good touch, can link, can run with the ball, runs in behind, can press and most importantly can score goals. His last two seasons his goals record is excellent. He’s coming into his prime in the next couple of years too. He’s a fit boy who doesn’t miss many games. Everything I said there is a massive upgrade on what options we have at centre forward. Massive upgrade. What's really strange to me is that the same people who slag off Solanke seem to want Neto, a player who's never had a more impressive season than Solanke had last year, and is injury prone as well. I wonder if they'd be treating him the same if he was called Pete Net?
Yes because we can keep him fresh because of squad depth.I think everyone accepts that buying Neto for big money is a calculated risk. You only have to watch him play to see that without those two serious injuries he would be playing for a superclub by now. So, do we gamble on his talent and hope he has better luck on the injury front?
