Concerns me how many people genuinely thought the club would be after a right winger.

The club has literally spent something like £90m on RW in the last 18 months on an 24 year old and a 23 year old and people think that they’re gonna go again this summer?

I said at the time Werner WAS the versatile winger. Just because people don’t like it, doesn’t mean it’s any less true.

I don't believe it. I think we held a real interest in Neto

The guy posting it has been a member on there since 2005 and has 60 odd posts so I can’t see him being a wum and is probably just passing on in good faith……the result, they’ve deleted the post! 😂
I posted two posts in one day on SC a few years ago, One stating the GLC was shit, and one stating that my mate's girlfriend worked as a cleaner in Spurs stadium and she found a bit of paper on Levy's office floor with transfer names on it.

The next time I checked the forum I was banned.

I thought it's understood now that Ange speaks to the player and he needs to be convinced that they really want to join Spurs.

If he's had that conversation with Gallagher it has probably gone something like: "Sorry Ange but I'm chelsea scum through and through and my family would disown me if I joined so no thanks".

Why would this scenario have changed just because the Atleti deal has collapsed?
If Ange really has a boner for Gallagher, who is as Chelsea as they come, it does worry about the big fella. There was the NL rivalry biz, now the Gallagher stuff. Someone tell him what Spurs is about.

So less than a week to go and the only player we've brought in (that competes straight away for the 1st XI) is the striker we've needed since Harry left over season ago...and even that signing has had one decent top level season. Awesome.

8/10 Window clearly because we've moved on a load of shite we wasted money on in the first place.

I actually think Gallagher would be the perfect Ange midfielder. I know that doesn’t go down well or will get me any thumbs up and ticks, but I’d be over the moon if we got him in.

Don’t think we will, mind.

Gallagher for £35m (although we’d have to pay Levys-a-ballbag tax) and Hermoso on a free, whilst shipping Lo Celso would be a decent end to the window.

👍

Adringa would be a very smart buy. Young and a big talent........ 2 years left on his contract, Brighton have loads of wide players, surely we are interested and pushing for a deal.

Let the rumour be true :ange-pray:

Because midfielders are limited nowadays but that’s down to how the game is played. The things that make a midfielder a good midfielder is coached out of them and are pigeonholed into one position. Midfielders should be able to do the lot like back in the 70s/80s and 90s. The game has changed now and for the worse. Nobody can tell me that Biss couldn’t play higher up or madders couldn’t play deeper. They are just not allowed to now as the game is more structured.

Going back to the question
A 6 is a defensive midfielder who is there to protect centre backs(another thing I disagree with as they only play against one striker) who also gets on the ball and controls the game.

An 8 is a midfielder that has more scope to get forward and join in the game but also has to get back and defend.

That’s as simplistic as you can make it.
What I’ve noticed in pre season there has been more scope for our midfield to rotate (especially when Biss is not playing) with all midfielders moving and playing the 6,8 and 10. Bergvall is taking a pass from Vic then in the same attack he’s up supporting and joining in the game behind the front players . That gives us more fluency but also harder for oppposition to mark rather than being rigid with a 6 and two 8s.

Playing with Bentancur,Madders and Bergvall especially at home is our best three midfielders in my opinion.
the no.6 and 8 role differences was mainly from Italy, Spain ect... They're still primarily similar but different based on the individual and system.

We were using 442 for so long with both midfielders expected to do it all, with one CF dropping off(no.10) and one pinning the defence back (no.9)

Certain terms like the regista(no.6).. Mezzala(no.8) and what not... They translate to a midfield role in a structure that allowed for more specific traits but it also depends on the player.

Looks like priority is clearing the decks bringing wage bill down.

That wasn't an accusations mate, sorry if it came across that way. It was just an observation on my own reaction.

Having said that, where does this "stink of panic" come from? The links?

The only concrete evidence I've seen about first choices, was after it was confirmed by AP that Solanke was a first choice target. Other than that, we've had absolutely nothing showing that any other player is a first choice for any particular position.

Again, all we as fans have, is speculation by the press, and social media, that certain players are who we're after. If every link was concrete, we'd be trying to buy more players than Chelsea!
You make a good point...again.

All I'll say is this...when you finish 20 pts off City & Arse, were ridiculous in Cup comps, haven't won shit since the Big Bang but now saying loud & proud you wanna truly challenge...and then your top targets are Gray (who you only got when Brentford was about to sign him), friggin Werner who no genuine big club wants, and Dom Solanke...well something doesn't add up. If them lads really were top of our list, then don't come claim you're serious about winning.
