Davies is loyal and reliable and a fine squad player in my book
Ultimately you want to get to a point where every player in your squad is of the required level.

If we had to start Davies in a run of tough fixtures we would all be shitting it - so how reliable is he?

Dragusin is an example of a fine squad player, Davies is not.

In any case, it will be his last season with Vuskovic arriving next summer to cover CB.

He had a few ok moments.

Never once looked comfortable.

That side of the pitch is not for him

And it will end up making his head go down if he is forced to play there.
To be honest mate I think he’s our right back cover. I think Mickey will cover left back if needed at least till January. Having Spence there to cover both sides especially the right but can help out on the left if really needed.

No, he can't help on the left.

If we had a proper solid defence style, you could risk it.

The way we play it's asking for disaster.

I like adaptability and flexibility, but for spence just coming back, we need to get him in a groove and keep him in his wheel house.

He’s getting to the stage of being a man down. Get the deadwood out it’s the only way to improve. No room for sentiment
Really baffles me the fans that want to cling onto players like this with cliches like "loyalty" and "reliability" thrown out.

This is elite sport and this guy has been at Spurs for a long time and we've payed him many millions of pounds for the privilege.

We have a style of play that he is no longer suited to at all and so he needs to be moved on.

Apologies, just re-read that and see you mean his overall time at Genoa (?)

Wires crossed, here.

Yeah, from what I saw that was decent.

Didn't see him play on the left there, tho.

And don't want to see it here, after the pre-seaosn game.

Not going to work.
I’d prefer to see him on the right too mate. He’s got everything you want in an inverted full back. He’s a beast of an athlete and csn eat up the ground with and without the ball.

Can see us getting a new CM in but not necessarily a 6.

Wonder if we'll see it through, get rid of Bissouma (and potentially Bentancur) next season and go huge on Wharton
Wharton has been a little overhyped imo. He’s comfortable on the ball but he’s a little one paced and off the ball he’s pretty immobile. He’s not worth what Palace would want for him.

But a player like Kav would surely have got the fans excited. We needed a player like that to go straight into starting 11. Of all the players we have bought only solanke starts. Yet we needed improvement to the wide players.
We need what Ange thinks we need, not what will get the fans excited. If Ange has identified such a need, I'm sure the recruiting team is on it. For all we know Odobert might be the one. Or maybe we're still looking. No one knows. So let's just see how the rest of the window unfolds and how the team plays in the first few matches and we can make some better assessments after that.
