I give a pass to players coming back from injury Udogbi, Richie and new players Solanke, Gray and Bergvall, but that no way excuses that result. Son, Johnson, Sarr, and Werner did little.

We only had one new signing in the starting lineup, and that was Solanke (who has had about a week to bed in). I think we'll improve in the coming weeks, and Maddison looked a lot sharper than at any point since his injury last season.
It's not about new signings etc. We had our best line-up since forever. The issue is the way we approach the game tactically and I see no improvements from last season. Ange's stubbornness or inability to change our approach midgame is still the same.

Well that turned out to be fucking shite.

First bit of pressure and we wilted. Our reaction to their goal was absolutely pathetic. Really alarming how our level dropped after they scored. A lot of work to do.

Son really poor, solanke not great today at putting the ball away, had 2 good chances. He needs to improve.

But that's pretty much what is was - neat and tidy with no real cutting edge - our goal came off Porros's shoulder.

Meanwhile other teams do two or three quick passes straight through us and score or at least get a chance.

It's worrying for the season that for such a dominant first half, we still cannot put games to bed and so teams will always know they're going to get a chance against us.

Villa, Liverpool, Newcastle, Woolwich, Man City, even Man U are all going to come away from there with three points.
Again I agree - nice football first half but not ruthless. The best teams are ruthless. We are not one of the best teams

Thought the football was outstanding for most of the game and really should have been 3-0 up.

Fitness caught up with us and we conceded a goal from their first shot and then had a meltdown.

Overall I’d be much more concerned if we hadn’t created anything and looked like conceding all the time but we didn’t. We looked solid from set pieces and were really close to scoring from set pieces as well.

Football is cruel sometimes and today we had to take our medicine. I’m glad Vardy was a cunt as well. If that doesn’t light a few fires then nothing will.

Obviously the doom melts will dominate the conversation now but I’ll take that as well, if you want to win shit you need to be able to soak up the negative as well as enjoy the positive. It’s going to help us later on in the season

H Gomes is widely, if not universally, regarded as the club's worst goalkeeper. But if Vicario doesn't get a personality transplant soon, he will be worse for us.
I think you are exaggerating the incident. Players giving their team mates a dressing down is very common. And Bergvall decision was really poor which could have cost the team. Son had scolded Sarr and Johnson countless times. I'm sure it's all professional and nothing personal. They will be fine back in the dressing room.

I don't actually agree I think it might be worse than that. And its only the quality in the team that is sustaining that 8th -5th. I have huge doubts about the quality of the coaches. And the basic soundness of Postecoglou system. I'm not convinced at all, I hope I'm wrong but I think it's little more than vibes. Think Levy's had his pants pulled down which guts me because I like Ange.
I don't like Postecoglou, but I don't blame today on him or his system. I think it is mostly that Spurs are a young team that doesn't always know what to do when other teams adjust during the game. You could blame that on coaching, but I think it is more about inexperience. It's still a very young team.

Why do none of our players really fancy having shots either?

We seem intent on keeping possession at all costs rather than having a shot or trying to beat a man to the touchline.

We're trying to walk it in every time or wait till we're within six yards before we get a shot off.

What do people expect to see? Buy a collection of average players, and they perform mid table.
It’s a fair point. Our expectations do need to be tempered when you look at the fact that on paper, we are probably the 8th best team quality wise in the league?

I would argue City, Liverpool, Woolwich, United, Chelsea, Villa and *possibly* Newcastle all have better sides than us on paper.

Some won’t like to hear that, but it’s hard to argue against it.

I was happy to see that. That's the kind of leadership you want the keeper displaying. And it is a lesson that will probably stick with Bergvall.

Hopefully we use this as a kick up the arse - we started the game well but lost the plot after missing chances and giving a goal. Need a confidence boost next weekend
