Look at the noise after drawing a game, no chance people are going to be patient, the moment we go on a bad run it will be unbearable and I don't think the board have the courage to stick by their man. Although there is no 'fan favourite' coach available to hire to keep the fans off their backs for a few months
Of course people will be patient if the likes of Moore, Gray, Bergvall and Odobert are given plenty of chances.

People lose patience watching the same old plodders plod about.

This is the point. The objective of any club be it Tottenham, Oldham or Grimsby is to achieve a goal, so would be promotion for them. Thats the point of football. I can take not winning things but its the not really trying that pisses me off. I like some of the things we've done this summer with the clear out and the youngsters coming in but no one can seriously claim we've done enough to mount any sort of challenge. At best its hoping to nick 4th (i think even that is optimistic) and get lucky with cup draws.
an actual quality wide forward that comes straight into the first 11 would be a statement summer. but thats looking very unlikely now. it does feel like we are just trying to nick 4th and hope that we have something to be excited for in 2/3 years time with the younger players coming through.

yeah im not talking about being patient with ENIC, being patient with the current coach.
ENIC are going no where whether you're patient or not
We know one of two things will happen though. Either Ange won t get this young squad competitive quick enough and we’ll finish 8th, take some pastings and Levy will lose his nerve as he hates being embarrassed.

Or Ange will get them going, the young players will grow together and we’ll have a young side playing great football that needs a push of a couple more quality players to turn competing into winning and Levy will shy away from taking the risk of buying a Rice or a Van Dijk type.

I think when you get to the level we’re operating at, people can lose sight of how hard it is to just even stay where you are.

Lots of clubs been where we are, and would kill to see them back there.

I work with a Crystal Palace fan, two Millwall and a Fulham fan, and the envy when I start booking annual leave for my European adventures is insurmountable. We really need to step back and appreciate it, sometimes.

so business is done, except maybe a last minute grab for a LB/LCB

If that's true, it's just a joke.

We lose Hjojberg and Skipp and replace them with two untried but impressive youngsters. We sign another youngster in our obsessive pursuit of wide men. We also move on Royal.

Notthing that improves the first team unless we all believe Solanke is going to ad valorem to an extent that makes his presence that key factor.

In other words, the hierarchy are confident Postecoglou can create silk. I don't see it sadly.

And this year we are in the Europa, so how is that circle being squared exactly.

Astonishing shortsightedness, IF we are sticking.

I think nicking 4th this season would be reaching tbh.

We've been in that loop for 20 years now, roughly since Jols first full season. Bar 2 years under Poch we've never really looked like challenging. Its not disloyal to maybe expect a step up otherwise what was the point in moving from WHL?

Absolutely. See my other posts about the promises of it being ‘game changing’.

Weird place this.

Within 2 days I’ve been called a Levy lover and a Purple and Gold prick.

Wanting better for your club and appreciating how well it’s doing are not mutually exclusive.

...You don't believe that Solanke improves the first team?

Yep the never-ending project rumbles on.

I will be happy enough this season if Ange really embraces the youth (particularly Moore and Odobert getting meaningful minutes in attack).

We won't win anything and probably won't get top 4 but we will be well set up at that point to make some statement signings next summer in the 70m-100m range to add some elite talent to this squad (doesn't that sound familiar...)

Those that we flogged were shit though. And yes we've replaced them with youngsters but they do appear to have very high ceilings so I do think the squad is in better shape generally.

The issue is we have only marginally improved the first XI (dependent on Solanke).

I suppose the thinking is that the drop off should be smaller now when we need to utilise squad players so over a season we should pick up more points.

But without a better first XI you can't go toe to toe with Pool, Scum and City and that's what is disappointing about the window.

The point was to enhance the financial value of the club. It's a great stadium to watch games in and seems to generate some more money for players... but it exists to increase ENIC's ROI.
