Player Yves Bissouma

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

When focused he is one of the best 6’s in the premier league, always has been. With Bissouma you get either 9/10 baller performance or 4/10 switched off performance.

Hopefully now he has to fight for his place he will get consistency.

....That said; today was one of those games where we dominated without looking like we had a large degree of control.

A LOT of loose balls flying about MF.

We really do need someone that can set the tone and pace and control a game........ I still see Biss as more of an 8 than a 6.

100%.

As soon as the opposition raises the tempo slightly, the game becomes a rabble and we look like we could concede at any minute.

Bissouma is a baller, but someone to control a game and build a midfield around? No chance.

Love that, tongue-in-cheek joke to show he's keeping it all in perspective, realistically this was a "medium" deal, obviously fucking stupid to film yourself doing something (albeit mildly) illegal is very much thick as pig shit, but is it really worse than getting papped stumbling out of a club pissed out of your skull at 3am? Alcohol also does very real damage to the cardiovascular system and inhibits athlete performance in a multitude of ways, but because it's state-sanctioned drug taking we chalk it down to "letting off steam after a tough week/month/season". I don't think the footballers who chain smoke (Berba anyone?) got nearly this much shit for that either despite the very obvious detrimental impact on footballing performance.
Very controlled performance from Bissouma today, very very nice goal, if Ange can finally have got it through to him and we get the consistent 8/10 Biss for the rest of the season he is back to being the bargain of his summer window and we are absolutely laughing. It wouldn't be good for Gray if we had to rely on him to be our starting 6 at such a young age IMO, it's a position with a lot of defensive responsibility and you're gonna be putting yourself about, I want to see plenty of him but not at the expense of the more mature 6 we need to provide the cool head and experience we will desperately need in the big games this season. Long may it continue.

Yeah don't see him as a 6 at all.

I think he'd be a very effective 8. Has shown he's got a decent strike on him and that dribbling ability could be very effective closer to the opposition box.

Your 6 needs to be the most tactically disciplined in the team with strong defensive nous and be a pass master basically. You don't need a dribbler in there.

6 is the heartbeat of a team in a possession based side. its unfair that rodri is about because the bar is set at a ridiculous level.

see a quote on insta from bielsa saying he calls the 8 'the modric' now because he can attack like a 10 and defend like a 6 . proper fucking footballer. biss can maybe be a very poor mans modric...thats still a fucking very good player.

Finally, the ball didnt balloon off of him and also didnt seem to be running out of breath. He is flying high right now. Really pumped that ball in for the first goal, almost popped the goal. Keep it up (as in reference to the kids movie 2009) Bissouma.

He's the perfect 6 for this team when he's on it. Even showing the passing range to spray it about.

Just needs to learn to find that consistency now. Seems like he's never worked for a manager who demanded it before. Conte probably didn't see it in him so just benched him instead of coaching him. Ange could still be the making of him.

Only one Modric with his vision and awareness, not to mention finishing and resility a

Only one Modric thats for sure, awareness, touch ,finishing and longevity hes got it all.
Defensively id say if he played in teams with the high line we play for instance instead of the defensive nous at Madrid be a different ball game, not to mention injuries accumulated.
Id quietly settle for a Declan Rice the way we are set up to play any day of week.
PS:Great to see Biss score a top goal, very happy for him and great man management by Ange.
