Player Dejan Kulusevski

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Yea definitely- a bunch of total boobs have said this player is absolutely useless but it turns out he’s actually very useful for us. They can’t deal with that.

Turns out? Man you guys are insane. There is just no logic or sense to posts like this. He had one decent game against a terrible Everton at home. Most of last season and the season before he was poor.

I don’t really care if people rate this guy but the ‘told you so, can’t take that he’s good’ posts are hilariously stupid based on one fucking game against fucking EVERTON.

Come back and tell us how right you were when he has managed a full, good season at the club.

You’re hilarious buddy. Here’s a shovel- keep on digging.

Here at THFC, if you can’t cope, just hit disagree with all of your opponents posts. It helps relieve the seething butthurt.

I gave the same amount of disagrees out as you did, genius.

The amount of weekly tags are going to be incredible when this guy goes on his standard season disappearing act and ends up on the bench again. No mercy.

One game. An assist. Not even a goal. Against Everton at home. And he was the third best attacking player on the team on the day.

Lord have mercy on the lot of you
You can only take the chances in front of you.

Well just have to see how it all plays out this season. I don’t think many of us were expecting Ange to be flexible enough to play a double CAM system. It’s a role Kulu could thrive in.

In either case it’s strange to see people bending over to criticize Kulu when it’s clear the biggest weak link in the offense is Johnson.

I wouldn’t have much of an issue with Kulusevski if he weren’t of value to sell. He doesn’t fit the style we play, isn’t a very good RW, and isn’t a good CM. If we can get 20m+ for him, which shouldn’t be too difficult, then let’s use that to buy either a CM or RW that is actually effective in this system.

The guy can play any postion upfront, even as midfielder if needed, score goals, gives assists, works hard and reads Herman fucking Hesse. I can't understand anyone complaining about this guy.

He has looked better in the middle for a long time now, he just clearly isn't a wide player in the PL, doesn't have the pace to beat a man on the outside consistently and is too one-dimensional in his play from out wide, always coming in on his preferred left before making a move giving opposition defences a chance to pack the box and track the passing options. He rarely cuts in when in space and takes on a shot. However, I loved his performance on Saturday, he really made us tick down that right hand side. I think we might have found our starting pairing in the middle tbh, I haven't really felt like Bentancur is much more than a solid rotation option since coming back from the Villa injury, and it seems like he might be a bit of a sicknote unfortunately so probably needs to earn a starting berth with performances. I do really like Sarr but I'm not sure he can provide the same kind of invention as Kulu, you won't get the smart interchanges with Johnson on the right with Sarr but he is a fantastic water carrier, might be a case of Kulu through the middle vs low block and Sarr when we need more presence in midfield vs bigger sides.

He did get some runs up the right when Johnson switched with him or was back defending. I recall him megging the right back on the way to the end line where he held off two defenders and won a corner. It was an impressive run.

Kulu would look even better if Johnson could link up, but he can’t.
We can’t blame all of this on Johnson, as tempting as it may be.
From my perspective it appeared that Ange had Kulu and Maddison in 8/10 hybrid roles- they both tracked back, but also both took up positions cutting in from the wing of their respective sides. I enjoyed the formation and look forward to it being played more often. I and others theorized that this formation would be effective as far as last summer preseason. Great to see it coming to fruition.
Maddison was far more active and involved than Kulusevski though. Go rewatch the first goal. Now, that was a great team move (even Johnson actually did quite well there) but it was Kulusevski doing inverted RW things in an inverted RW position inside the box.
Maddison is all the way on the right side of the pitch as a sort of RCM feeding Kulusevski the ball.. That’s the difference between the two, Maddison was the do-everything go-everywhere versatile playmaking powerhouse. Kulusevski was not anywhere close to as influential or as positionally versatile as Maddison was.

I reckon if Kulu was faster, better at dribbling, shooting and crossing, then we could have a mini Bale on our hands
It’s mad how even if you fused Kulusevski and our other “mini Bale” in Johnson, that still wouldn’t make as good of a player as peak Bale. What a freak of nature he was. The football version of Secratariat.
