Johnson? Yeah he might and away at St James that might not be the worst idea. They will have periods of dominance and counter attacks will be there for us too

Just can’t see that happening mate. Unless Ange is on some kind of self destruct mission or something he'll be nowhere near the starting XI after his first 2 performances.

And we're not going to change our tactics so we're easy to pick off on the counter. We're literally playing to Newcastle's strengths.
Let’s hope we go up there with a strong mind set rather than defeatist. This is more for the players, Ange and coaches. The fans can be nervous or dreading it but if we setup properly with the right players and formation we could beat them. Leave the fast players on the bench for later on. Let’s beat them as a team playing both defensively and attacking together.

Nothing worse for any team than fearing whst your opponent might/can do.
But you need solidity and oomph from the get go. It's not our forte.

If Solanke isn't fit (incredible really) then setting us up like we were against City at home might work.

Got to start somewhere, the bar was set very low.
With Solanke and Richy missing it is imperative we do not play Son as the ST as the ball will not stick and we will get no respite. I'd go with a more conservative team and play Bentancur deeper in a double pivot with Bissouma to protect the back 4 a little more. Key to success will be to dominate possession and try and expose Newcastle's FBs 1-on-1 with our wide players, especially if they play Tripper or Burn. Sarr, Bergvall, Johnson and Werner could all have an impact against tired legs from the bench. Big game for Maddison - is he back on form?
